I take about 500 mg of Eleuthero each morning and about 1000 mg of valerian root each night. My question is theres no long terms risks to either of these herbs right? But they definitely work pretty good, now Im getting to sleep about 3 hours earlier. Also in a workoutclass I take I feel I can go much longer, but thats probably mostly due to eating 5x healthier lately.

I'm not sure about the Eleuthero but I know that taking too much Valerian Root or too often has some risks. I only take it when I'm having trouble sleeping. I don't think it's a good idea to take everyday.

Thank you. Im gonna start to cut down on them both more since Im on a better schedule and only take the eleuthero days im working out, just in case there are risks.

I take Valerian Root every night before going to bed myself. I was told it's a natural remedy and it isn't risky.

A couple questions to those who have tried it--does Valerian root really make a difference in helping you fall asleep? How long does it take to kick in? And how do you feel the next morning?

Yes, it gives you a tranquil, peaceful state and you have a good night's sleep and feel fresh and rested in the morning. It worked almost instantaneously with me.

Lace, Valerian does improve overall sleep quality. You also don't usually feel groggy the next morning. That said, I personally found it very easy to become dependent on it to fall asleep. I took it for a week in a row and on the 8th day tried to abstain; I didn't sleep all night. And I've never had any major problems sleeping.

I've also heard warnings about drug interactions with Valerian. Supposedly it's pretty sensitive.

I reserve it for nights when I'm just not tired. That method seems to be a little safer than taking it every night.
