i mean come on, all christians are assholes. most of them are rednecks and obsessed with war and all the things that the bible is against even tho they still call themselves christians. i mean come on! give the priest a dollar a week to save your eternal soul from hell! its a scam open your eyes! the only good thing from christianity is jesus. his teaching were gret but nobody follows them. everyone else is tainted from being raped by their minister. its bull shit. just believe in good and dont get in depth with the words of things. people made too much about it. i dont see any buddhists going around killing people b/c theyre different. or even atheists for that matter. most atheists are peaceful people. christianity was good but its become a cult so powerful that nobody can fight it. however there is still a resistance. the world would be better w/o religion. like grissom said on CSI: he doesnt believe in religion b/c most wars were fought b/c of it. the crusades were so stupid! and why are the musims blowing shit up? b/c they want the holy land all to themselves! just fucking give it to em and leave them alone. theyll kill each other off and there goes there religion. some great religion that was. christianity is the same thing. hitler was a devout christian that went to church every week and look how that ended up! charles manson was a christian! do you hear of any crazy psychotic people that arent christians? give me the doped out atheist for president b/c hes got nothing to fight for. christianity itself is a sin. anyone can come up with something to shut me up id like to hear it. but first explain to me how raping little boys, supporting wars and nuking jews is good for anybody.

The crusades were mostly a political war, and quite unsuccessful campaigns at that. The Europeans only took Jerusalem once and lost it soon after. In defense of the claim that it was political, why another goal of the camaigns was to retake Constantinople which used to be the great political centre of the Eastern Roman Empire.

Logically your staement falls apart in thes ense that there are many different kinds of crazy people, some just happen to be Christian--or-- most appear to be Christian because proportioanlly there are larger numbers of Christians in the world than other groups.

• Are Buddhists non-violent? Not the zen masters who aided and abetted Japanese militarism during World War II, nor the Sri Lankans who have backed violence against Tamil rebels, nor the Shurgun worshippers who have been implicated in murders of religious rivals in Tibet.
• Are atheists non-violent? Stalin, Pol Pot, and Mao slaughtered far more innocent people than the Crusades and the Inquisition, combined.

you have all seemed to find a few holes in my post however, no-one has yet to prove that any good has come from christianity which was my main point after all. and since when does god only listen to those in a church? christians shouldnt need to fix a church b/c they do not need a church to worship in in the first place. and im sorry i called all christians rednecks and assholes, that was wrong. i appologize but do not take back what i said about how nothing good ever came out of it. please try and prove me wrong on that cuz id like to hear ur opinions on that also.

 

Jesus' teaching have widely affected the world over the past 2000 years.

It would not be outrageos to assume that many good deeds and acts have been done in his name. Christian organizations donate consantly to people in need. It's just an on-going process.

If you want to say that no good has come from Christianity, then you might as well be saying that no good has come from religion in general, which is just false.

 

Yeah, I must admit we owe a lot to religion. Like a delicate ecosystem religion helps keep man in check. Like natural disease keeping animal populations in check. Look at the most war torn religious hell hole region on this planet, the middle east can't support too much life, they NEED to keep killing each other in religious wars so they don't starve to death.

We owe all of our modern technological advances to wars fueled by religion, I mean it's amazing Hitler's names not printed somewhere on my car!

And the greatest civilization on earth, America, built on Christian values. We need our delicate balance of religious tools to vote on delusional greedy warmongering presidents like Bush and fight wars to keep our unsustainable lifestyle in check. Just enough to vote em in, that's all, too many and we start loosing freedoms to fanatics. Then we can keep driving our SUV's to work ignorant of the fact that we're burning millions of years worth of fossil fuels because our flawed religious mindsets refuse to believe the world is even a million years old!

Our lifestyle absolutely relies on the ignorant state of denial produced by a religiously dominated world and oppression of poor religious countries!

 

I think the best thing to come our of Christianity was Jesus, the example of his life, ministry and message of compassion, radical equality, nonjudgmental unconditional love for everyone, and special concern for the outcasts and nobodies of society. I've known plenty of good people who seem to be inspired by that model, and they make the world a better place for all of us.

He argues that Athiest fundamentalists such as Hitchens who want to eradicate religion set religion in the same light as Christian fundamentalists do for secular humanism. They create this pure evil enemy and promote a form of worldly cleansing. Can't wait to get my hands on a copy...

 

I'm not a big fan of Christianity, but Christian monasteries sure did save a whole lot of awesome literature from destruction.
