Can the least potent salvia be similar to marijuana?

Ok, so long story short, I really want to smoke weed because I have a lot of work lately, but I need to get a job soon. A friend of my friend told me that when he smokes salvia it's almost exactly like weed. Anyone else feel this? If I smoke the least potent kind, can I get a marijuana like high? I could really use it...

Heh, sorry, but your friend is an idiot. Salvia is nothing like marijuana. I still recommend it but do a lil research before you do so that you know what to expect.

actually, the only time I smoked salvia, I only took a few pipe hits, and I didnt get any hallucinations. the effects are similar to weed and alcohol, but last about ten minutes. I wouldnt do it again, but the threshold dose is similar to weed.

I have done sally a lot now... it's been more than a year (i think) when I first tried it... anyway... when I smoke an extremely small amount of my 10x I do feel like I have smoked buds. I don't know about you but I definately feel the similarities... the come-down of a stronger salvia trip feels too like some good weed. When you take a small amount of it you will not be thrown into outer space... you will just be... well... high... :D

i owned a 1oz/half of leaf, bought it online $7 :D at first the effects were very minimal, but as time and smoking progressed the effects starting climbing over the weeks/months with the reverse tolerance, i didn't need to smoke more to achieve the same effects... i'd get a weird feeling of being in a high and alcoholish state, i say alco because i felt kinda drunk in my coordination. i say buy some leaf if/while u can...

If it's anything at all like weed, it's in the calm afterglow/stoned feeling you have for a while after. That means it didn't work on you yet.
When it does work, no. Nothing at all like weed.
    Even plain leaf.

Well the lower end effects, like the cannabis relaxation and salvia afterglow may be similar, but the same can be said for quite a few substances.
Cannabis is a very versatile drug, to actually get into its characteristic effects, you smoke enough so that it goes further than just that 'good' feeling and displays its stuff.
Salvia branches off a very different way.
    They're really very very different.
Salvia is not as sure-fire to provide that result.
Try it a while, and you'll come to everyone's conclusion: there are lots of nice plants out there, but no substitute for cannabis. I gotta try that Spice gold, now that I think about it.

Whatever works for your purpose, though. Beware, you may take a hit or two of plain salvia leaf and wind up not realizing you smoked any salvia but thinking you're always been a bicycle or something. Out of nowhere and in seconds.

Regardless, after the unexpected WTF that happens for a few minutes, yeah, some people feel stoned or just real good. I do.
