The video for the new streets single "blinded by the lights" is up on the streets website and i think everyone should see it...it's the sort of video that completely changes how you hear the song...i can't listen to it without seeing the last image in my mind...it's really good...but a little bit scary...like one of those old skool "don't drink and drive" ads...the link is on the right hand side a quarter down the page...i highly recommend it even if you hate the streets...i saw it on channel 4 the other night and it really stuck with me which is why i'm telling you all to see it...it's just strange...i'm rambling now...but go see it...

I was a bit disappointed with it myself, caught the Channel 4 showing the other week too. I think the disappointment came with it being set at a wedding, where a club scene would have suited the song better.

I don't see how it changes the song completely either, there aint much going on in the video that isn't put across perfectly in the lyrics. Except like I say it being at a wedding with a big brawl at the end.

How did it change the song for you like?

WOW!!! The bloody Streets do it again!!! Man fucking amazing! I totally agree it sure does change the song to a ultimate max! For me the song is much sadder that without the video. Amazing!

it completely changed the song for me because when i heard it originally, like staryfly said, it sounded like a happier song...but now i've seen that video i can't listen to the song without that over-riding feeling of fear that the video left me with...i am a very paranoid person to start with, and that video really scared me...everytime i hear the opening of the song i keep seeing that final image of his face covered in blood...i actually have it on now...to start with it sounds a bit ominous and eerie, but when the tune comes over the beat it sounds like a rave track which lifts it and makes it more upbeat...after seeing that video i can't get the uplifting part anymore...it's just scary...i suppose to some extent it makes you listen to the song more clearly...at least it has a message unlike fucking "fit but you know it" which to me is a completely wasted track...it's the obvious single and doesn't really fit to me...it hardly even fits into the story...

True enough, the video does clue you in to that. That to me is the video itself saying something, and something seperate from what the song is saying.

I agree with that, it being about loneliness, but I kinda got that from the song anyway. Despite some of the lyrics which might make you think he's having a great time, there's something about the music which just makes you feel like all is not well.

And then there's other lyrics which just confirm this: "People pushing by and walking off into the night". Plus the fact he seems to be spending the whole song looking for his friend and girl.

I dunno, seems we've all got the idea in the end. But like I say, the song already had some of that meaning in it to me, I think I might just dislike it because it's all made a bit too obvious? I'm not sure, I guess with the song being kinda cryptic I was hoping the video would be too. Just a taste thing.
