I bought 18 in 1 hemp unscented baby-mild pure castile soap ingrediants; water, saponified organic coconut and organic olive oils (w/ retained glycerin) organic hemp oil, organic jojoba oil, citric acid, vitamin e is it appropriate for use on dreads?
yeah, bronners is the only soap i use on my dreads. i like the tea tree kind; it does a great job of cleaning and drying out my dreads like no other soap. definitely recommended.
Personally, Dr. Bronners has not been my favorite as a long term soap. It proved difficult to completely rinse out (due to ALL those oils) and I felt like it was attracting air born yuck. Since I work with animal that meant feathers, dog hair, cat hair, YUCK! That isn't to say its not HEALTHY for your dreads. But I would have an alternative and maybe not use Dr. Bronners for every wash, or not when you know you will be exposed to lots of dust, animals, etc Just a suggestion
choicestgirl...if Bronner's works for your hair-type, then use it. just remember to dilute it if you bought the liquid Bronner's, otherwise, you will no doubt have issues with buildup and irritation/drying. how to dilute? personally, i go 1/4 Bronners to 3/4 water, which i mix into an empty bottle. some ppl dilute it more, but i like at least a little lather to it.
Blank cd brought up a good point, the more the dilute the less problems you will have. Less is always more with dreads! Distilled aloe, which is the consistancy of water is a good addition to a Dr. Bronners mix, just a couple tablespoons in your bottle of diluted shampoo will due. Also not lathering the entire dread, just focusing on the scalp and letting it run through the dread is better. I like the dreadheadhq shampoo for a good CLEAN, but frankly it is not a good all natural shampoo. I would like to hear your results with the baby-mild version of DB's I've only used the Tea Tree one.
ive used bronners straight plenty buyt agree its best dilutred i dilute anywhere from 1/10 to 1/20 thats 1 part bronners to 10 to 20 parts watrer
so this is all residue free? and i heard a lot about using aloe too. i'm just concerned about putting anything in my hair that will build up and mildew....
Bonners is residue free, I too recommend the tea tree diluted. Aloe is good if u notice your overly itchy or what not. Anything can "build up" in your hair, just have to make sure your rinsing well. Mildew shouldent be a problem so long as u make sure ur dreads are dry before you goto bed, wear a hat, or tie them up.
I use Dr. Bronner's tea tree bar soap. I've been using it for about 2 weeks now, and I can feel that it leaves absolutely no buildup. And it smells like this amazing line of products my mom used to use when I was little... Melaluca I think they were called.
