I used a small amount for both my plants, which I germinated about a week and a half ago, there both still young with about 4 leaves on both, is it ok to use small amounts at this age? The soil isn't the best, so I figured I'd add alittle plant feed in to help. But I've heard bad things about using miracle grow for weed, will small amounts hurt them?

I am a new grower and when I used MG it burned all of them the stuff is not good for MJ. I was told to use fox farm (ocean forest soil) and am using Botaniacare Pure Blend Pro Gro for veg and Botanicare Pro gro Pro Bloom for flowering with botanicare sweet citris for lifting the sugar content and have had excellent results.

MG can be used but use it sparingly and a little epsom salts once in a while will helps it. Stick with plain water (or add a little b-1 -> superthrive to help the roots) and fertilize 1/4 strength every 3-4 watering when they get a bit larger or show signs of a deficiency. Peters 20/20/20 is a better choice then MG but I understand.

Damn it killed the first plant, turned completely brown but the 2nd has really taken off. (I used less MG on the 2nd) Its now showing signs of yellow on the tips but I think it will be alright :) thanks

1 teaspoon per gallon of water is all you need. Don't even think about using ferts until they have a couple leaf sets.

For the most part using any fertilzer is fine with any plant, its a matter of using enough water to help the nitrogen to break down. Nitrogen uses water to break down into a form of nitrogen that the plants can use. It starts by taking water from the soil but once there is no more water left in the soil it starts taking it from the plant in essencial "burning" it. but as a rule of thumb if you are going to give a new seeding a ferltilzer it isnt the best idea to give it somethign with a high amount of nitrogen, if anything give it something with a high middle number which will help promote root growth giving your plants a good healthy root system.
