I have been playing string instruments for years now. Recently, I have been considering buying a percussion instrument. I really like how Djembes sound but a lot of people I know have them and something different would be nice. Does anyone know anything about Cajons? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caj%C3%B3n Anyone have or play one? Are they hard to learn how to play? Worth the money? Any feedback would be nice. Thank you. By the way... this is the one I am thinking of buying. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Meinl-Wood-Cajon-with-Burlwood-Front?sku=445096 Sample Cajon videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=doLNXmD9-KM&watch_response https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7CEMDk1erw&feature=related https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SSijyDOsU8&feature=related
dunno, seems like a pretty cool instrument but you mise well just learn the drums and bust a 10 minute snare solo.
well... whats so interesting about the cajon is that it has a bass timbre to it as well. So it is pretty much a bass drum and snare drum all-in-one. The cajon is cheaper than a drumset, quieter, and more portable. If anyone has any experience with this instrument please let me know.
I don't own, but have used one & I really liked it. It was a tad difficult to mic well, but a lot easier than micing a kit by far.
Yea I mean like if you want to do recordings, I have some loops and single hit recordings that you can trigger via midi and you know make your own cajon grooves. If you want, PM me your email and ill send them to you
I've used it several times. A lot easier (for me anyway) to play than the regular snare-bass-tomtom set. The only problem I have with it is that I can't play too long without hurting my back so sometimes I sit on a chair and lay it across my lap while I play.
