I just watched a a movie called Waking Life. It is amazing If you enjoy thinking about things, watch it. seriously.
Heya wakeboarder (and TheFreeOne) would you mind do tell a little bit more - for those who love to think about life but are not so much into watching TV, or movies. There's enough space to write (and we have enough time to listen) ... and also it would help these forums to not become just like any average list-of-favorites boards out there ... but a place where you are free to create your own ... and this too can be amazing.
Thanks for the tip Moving Cloud, I'm still not quite used to hipforums, it really is different than anywhere else on the internet. I don't want to give much away, but basically, the movie is just a guy going on a strange adventure and talking to all kinds of people. There isn't too much of a plot, it's mostly just various people having conversations about things like free will, reincarnation, lucid dreaming, government, etc. Also the animation is really cool - it was filmed, but then each frame was sort of traced by an artist, so things are always changing, like facial features kind of floating around someone's face.
That movie looks so much like how I see people when I am trippin' face, peoples faces morph, or more like superimposed animal faces like birds and whatnot for a few frames. And how everything is just movin' around, just wiggling and being all cartoonish. That film made it seem like it was so easy to learn to lucid dream but I have only had a few.
yo, im about to watch the movie once again because its wonderful and if youre interested heres the site ~ http://www.surfthechannel.com/info/Movies/35629/Waking+Life.html enjoy!
my favorite movie of all time. i had someone watch that for the first time while on acid and he was freakin out. yall should check out Slacker, another movie by Linklater, not about dreamin but same plot where people are walkin around and runnin into other people and all kinds of weird random shit happens. It takes place in the mid 90's grunge scene days of Austin, Tx and there is no main character it goes from one group to the next.
i'm watching waking life now for the first time and does it remind anyone else of a shroom trip? just how things are morphing and moving around
Waking Life is a fantastic movie. So many good scenes, I like the one talking about how words are dead, and although we are communicating, do we really understand each other? The animation style is so cool. Richard Linklater also did A Scanner Darkly, which is a good one to watch if you liked the techniques used in Waking Life. I would love to do a similar project using Flash, I've been thinking on it for a while.
