Although many people would disagree and say that it's cheap and ethically wrong, alcohol could probably assist you in mutual masturbation and other such sexual activity with a friend. it helps you break past the awkwardness of it all. However it really depends on the "friend" and the circumstances. Had you anyone in mind?
I'll second the alcohol tip. I think it's still fun when you have your wits about you and you're not completely blitzed because not only do you get a lot more courage to act on urges, but you'll be able to remember everything! Plus if your friend doesn't want to, you can blame the alcohol!
I could never or wouldn't approach any of my friends(who I grew up with and are close to.) Know what I mean? My "Friend" that I share fun times with, is special. The situation is totally different. The fact that he is openly gay sure helped. Also, that he is not promiscuious. I am the only one that he does anything with and he is the only one that I felt comfortable enough to experiment with.
When I was younger, I got into the "bi" side by masturbating with my cousin basically by being shown how to do it by my babysitter's son. These days I couldn't think of any friend of mine that I would want to do that with. Kind of a turn off actually, lol. it usually works when said friend(s) are drunk, stoned, or just plain crazy enough to do it! lol. don't just come right out and go "let's masturbate!"-maybe ease it in while they're in the right mood for it.
