Good point. I just can't stand the judgemental looks that I would get if I announced something like that to others. Considering how many doctors see cannabis as a future replacement to many medicines, especially aspirin, there really is no reason to give dirty looks. But I guess a lack of acceptance comes from ignorance, so, inform, inform, inform; and make it self evident that cannabis is not only harmless, but beneficial as well. [IMG]

Contary to what the Family Guy generation thinks, weed isn't bad, mmmkay?

agreed. I love talking about weed with the people who frown upon its use, especially if they are drinkers/smoke cigarettes.

one of my favorite points to bring up, especially with people who are a little older than me and have kids, is "would you want your kid to buy their weed from a pharmacy or a dodgy dealer who might offer them some cocaine instead?"

Jimmy P, you're right. There really is no sound reasoning as to why cannabis should remain illegal. Whatever argument that could be brought up, could very easily be destroyed by using simple logic. Just by considering the values of love, we can very easily dispel the many myths about drug use.

The native Americans have adopted the use of psychotropic drugs into their culture, and they seem to be doing very well from my standpoint. So I don't understand the taboo that comes alongside drug usage, it really just stems from fear of the unknown, and many drugs truly are unknown within the American culture.

I didn't read any of the articles talked about on this thread, but I've given speeches in class, and wrote several papers on the topic....so I've done tons of research.

One day there was a D.A.R.E. tent outside of this store trying to raise money to keep kids off of drugs. This girl behind the table starts telling me all these things about the program, and how the money goes to good causes. I listened to the girl, but when she was done, I asked her what the biggest threat was that they are keeping off the streets. When she told me it was 'marijuana' I practiced one of my speeches, and told her all these facts that the "DARE" program won't tell you. People started crowded around and the woman ended up leaving the tent.

Every year, tobacco and alcohol kill more people than all illegal drugs COMBINED over the past century.

nothing i've ever consumed has ever made me feel like a had to have it. basically i'm too into creating and exploring to let anything besides air, water, food, and whatever else survival and staying out of trouble, absolutely depends upon, sidetrack me from them for very long, nor very far.

i really don't beleive anything should be unlawful to possess. but i just as really don't give a rat about consuming any of it.

and there ARE SOME things, we'd all be better off if they were never produced in the first place. like guns and cars. but i still wouldn't criminalize anyone for possessing them. if they made them themselves in their garage, which they would have to, if no one were manufacturing them.

i have no objection to banning the sale, mass production or wholesale importation of anything a majority of people aggree they would like to not see readily available, and every objection to criminalizing anyone for merely possessing anything.

well obviously in personal use, rather then wholesale quantities.

Great. Hemp can make rope. Hemp can make paper. You can eat the seeds, and they are highly nutritious. You can make fibers out of it. You can do this with it, you can do that with it.

    Fantastic.

I see no reason to legalize it so hippies can smoke their brains silly.

I would not legalize it either.
No matter how good/useful it was.

Cuz the only reason the hippies talk about how useful it is so we should legalize it... is so that they can sit in the park smoking it without getting a ticket. All the other reasons... rope, paper, bla bla bla... is all a front.

EDIT: And BTW. Hemp and marijuana are two different plants.

i smoke pot, i love pot, i always WILL love pot.
alcohol and cigarettes are legal, yet they're far more dangerous/fatal than pot.
i was just talking about this with my uncle last night. we smoked up a storm in his truck and talked about this very subject!

    marijuana is beautiful.

let's face it- most people smoke pot! lol.
it's sad that smoking makes me mellow and happy but i cant do it because of a stupid law. psh.
    well, i still do.

this was a real good article!!! Ive read most of what was said on there other places but not put together like the author did this one... But its true and people should be aware of what the history of the plant is... I printed it out for a few friends of mine to read, I know it will be interesting for them.

    Yes marijuana is haaaaaaaaaarmless.

Nevermind that all the resin that collects in your bowl... is also collecting in your lungs.

Nevermind that all smoke contains carcinogens and carbon monoxide.

Nevermind that my dad has a friend who's missing an arm... because he was on a construction job and someone operating heavy machinery was too high to realize what he was doing.

Nevermind that smoking marijuana makes you stupid, and often rediculously stupid, while you're intoxicated.

Just because alcohol and cigarettes are legal doesn't mean marijuana should be legal. That's just a "waaa life is unfair, no fair" argument.

Vaporizers solve that issue, not to mention how you can ingest cannabis rather than smoking it.

Where do you get your information? Your information isn't at all accurate.

Being high doesn't make you stupid. I have written a lot of material while high, and got nothing but praise for my work. I find being high to actually speed up my thinking (THC is a stimulant). You'll be surprised by the number of great thinkers (as well as dumbasses) have smoked cannabis for inspiration: one of these people being, Carl Sagan (He wrote about his usage under an alias - Considering his position, I can't blame him for being secrective. It's like an evolutionary scientist believing in God, and being ridiculed by his peers as a result).

It's not about the unfair argument. Many veterans within the drug bureaucracy believe that it makes better sense to legalize rather than to continue to make it illegal, or to decriminalize.

I am sorry about your fathers accident. But to be honest, that looks to be his fault; He shouldn't have been high while working in construction; that's not very responsible behavior. Despite it being illegal, your father still chose to be high during a time where he should remain most alert - this isn't fault of the drug But again, I apologize.

Oh yes. The infamous stoner cop-out. "Well, uh... *pffffffffff aaaahhhh* you're information is like.... inaccurate and inconclusive man... and like... *pfffffff aaaahhhhh* doesn't prove stuff.

Smoking marijuana DOES alter your perceptions. People who snort coke sometimes think they're invincible. ;)

Hey, I know people who have a few drinks and it helps them get laid! Alcohol is awesome man!

But seriously... being high doesn't make people stupid? Riiiiiiight. Maybe for a minority (read: minority) of people it does something to improve "creativity" or something. Or maybe it dumbs their brains up enough to focus on one single thing (read: single-minded). But for the rest I think it just makes them think they are smart.

And for the rest of people it just makes them fucking stupid.

No, my dad's fine. And he doesn't smoke. He knows someone who got hurt because of some other dumbass stoner hippy.

    I'm always serious.

Marijuana contains more toxic chemicals than tobacco does.

Sure you can eat it. But that doesn't solve the problem of people going about in society, stoned off their asses, in an altered state of consciousness, driving cars... operating heavy machinery... leading combat missions... performing surgery... landing airplanes... etc. You can't regulate that.

And once marijuana is legalized, all the crackheads'll be like "waaa, marijuana, tobacco, and alcohol are legal. Legalize crack!" and that'll be the next bullshit liberal nonsense floating about.

I think you get my drift.
