so i kind-of adopted this cat thats been hanging around my house now. i feed and and such and pet it. and i noticed a while ago it had a bump on it. when i looked under its fur i saw that the bump was a little maggot shaped thing that was just hagning on by a thread. it was gross. then i noticed another one behind its ear. i think the one i first found went away, but does anyone know what they could be? they dont look like they are creatures becuase they dont have any legs or eyes or anything. and if it helps they are tanish in color.

well without pics nobody can really tell you.

take it to the vet because it may or may not be something serious.

my dog recently had a growth on his skin, a jiggly wiggly super gross pink thing that looked like a tiny worm or something coming out of his back left thigh....

doc said it was nothing to worry about, not harmful in any way and not at all uncommon, but that it wasn't necessary to have it removed unless it was causing him discomfort, getting caught on furniture or something.

it was super gross, but we had him in to get a seperate, potentially cancerous growth removed and had them remove the other one just for cosmetic reasons as well.

i hope that what your cat has is the cat equivalent to the growth my doggins had, but i am no vet and havent seen it and can't say.

i strongly urge you to visit a vet. i know it costs money, but thats part of pet ownership (making sure they're healthy and happy!)

none of us can REALLY tell you whats up. hope everything's ok!

Could be a wolf - the maggot of a warble fly.

Cats can get maggots from flies on open wounds or dirty fur.

My dog Kefka gets skin tags all the time. Vet says they're harmless. I bet it's something like that.

I also recently adopted a stray kitten. Fucker got pink eye. And worms. My vet treated him for half-price, though, because she had been a stray. He's such a nice guy.

Call your local animal shelter, they should be able to put you in touch with low cost vets in your area.

look up "bot fly" on youtube....its probably not that, but it sounds somewhat similar with your description.
Other than that, if you say it was "hanging by a thread" then it probably is a skin tag.

I'd say you don't have to go run to the vet yet. Keep an eye on it and if it starts to look infected, you notice any change, or you notice more, then take the time and money to see a vet.
