If you are not poor in western terms then you are definitely rich enough in Thai terms.

I, unfortunately am too short and too poor. Living here is a kind of look-but-can't-touch masochism for me.

I'm not really speaking from experience here, more from heresay, but it seems like just about any situation you care for can be paid for over here.

The going rate for one night/one chick is about $40, I think.

But the real challenge, if you want one, is trying to avoid the small minority of prostitutes and pull a real Thai chick who hasn't ever/doesn't usually date foreigners.

 

I've talked to crusty punks who told me they weren't allowed to walk over the boarder into Canada. Well maybe if you didn't have a foot tall mohawk and nasty pants that look like they haven't been washed in years...

I'm gonna generalise a little here, but as I see it, there are three types of girls in Thailand.

1. hookers. Not only in brothels, but also in bars etc. They just state their price and the choice is yours.
2. freelance hookers. This is my term forgirls who frequent bars looking to pick up guys and then afterwards need money to go shopping etc. Thay have day-jobs but also see sex as an opportunity to make some extra money and maybe meet somebody who can get them out of here.
3. Good girls. They generally drink very little, don't have many boyfriends, or sex before marriage and study hard to better their financial situation.

I suppose there is a growing fourth category of girls who due to the influence of western culture, have boyfriends, sleep around a little and generally act like what we would call normal. But you would be surprsed by the amount of 20-something year old virgins I know.

 

I don't thik that all girls who aren't hookers are unavailable though, just a little harder to get.

 

Is there a way to find one of the fourth category who looks like she is in the third

I like bookworm looking girls, but more superficially speaking. If they won't shut up about Elizabethan prose and the 100 years war then I will have to go for just a plain old hooker.

some friends of mine live in Bangkok. both are utterly ruined, they told me; they no longer have the faintest idea of how to pick up a girl. whenever they want some action, they hit up the go go bars. what a great scene, quite fascinating.

 

Sadly, there are lots of people like that here, and not only fat middle aged men either. And then people wonder why westerners have a somewhat bad reputation with the general population here.

 

yeah, these guys are early 20s and not fat. not very, anyways. it's a very fascinating thing, prostitution in Thailand, but I wouldn't want all my sexual encounters to be with prostitutes for any amount of time. I'll do it at some point, but mainly for the experience, not out of convenience.

I really like how they're not so ostracized in society though, and how sex isn't as taboo as it is in the west. not considered filthy, ya know. I guess that's one thing catholicism's done for us.

 

I hear there are a lot of trannys in the prostitution business there.
