"MY music,my generation ,the 60's". Was on Monday night and today(Saturday) at noon. Incredible show,Roger McGuinn of the Byrds,Mamas and Papas, The Loving Spoonful,Iron Butterfly,Vanilla Fudge,Barry McGuire, and so many others. When I saw "Iron Butterfly"do "In-a-godda-da-vidda , I called and became a member! Any station that would play Iron Maiden and Vanilla Fudge is worth the $120 bucks I pledged! They both sounded great and maybe they brainwashed me with their "pledge drive" but I want them to bring more of this type of music for all to enjoy. Hopefully my contribution will help in some way(plus I get the DVD!). I was impressed because my 13 year old daughter (she heard the special, because I was blasting it in the next room!)got her butt off the computer and came over and sat by me and listened to the music! I was so thrilled that she was actually enjoying and learning about great music . So to answer your question ,this and all the 60s and 70s music specials are my favorite shows on PBS. I also enjoyed Mr. Rogers as a child,Ballykissangel, sewing with Nancy,Globetrekker is awesome and I LOVE the old movies. It is so hard to pick one favorite ,but I would have to say the 60's and 70' music concerts, they are the best in my opinion.
I watched that a few weeks ago. it was awesome. I love Rick Steve's Europe, Globe Trekker, Nature, Nova, American Experience, and Independent Lens.
Maybe I am a geek but PBS has always been my favorite station. Intelligent television,as I call it,they offer the best programs. I probably watch them 95 percent of the time.
I like Nova on occasions, but I guess my fav would be Austin City Limits and Soundstage. I also love pledge breaks because that seems to be when they show the best concerts, and then when the break is over, they go back to their boring stuff. It is like, Pledge to us and we will show you great concerts, but when pledge break is over, its like fuck you. LOL
i watch nova :] oh does that show still come on with the music? because if it does i want to watch it i liked arthur though when i was little uhh what elsee i dont know did the big comfy couch come on pbs? i loved that show
NOVA :cheers2: The show last night on Black Holes was fantastic Imagine a Black Hole in the center of the Milky Way Galaxy the mass of 1 billion suns Hotwater
i saw that! it was awesome. me, i like any nova program, rick steve's europe, and the cooking shows they have sometimes. hey, is Create a pbs thing, too? i never got this channel before until i got that converter box thing. its got all those cool shows like the urban peasant (this old british guy cooking), simply ming, that hippie man that talks really slow and shows how to paint things. i forgot his name, it might have been bob something.
i'm going to say mister rogers neighborhood. i love all of pbs but that show just makes me so nostalgic
my favorite is "american experience".i liked it a little better when david mccullough was the host because i think he provided some insight into the subject matter....."american masters" is usually pretty good. "pioneers of television" and the films by ken burns.
I love PBS. It's one of my favorite stations. It's one of the few stations that doesn't play crap nearly 24/7 I pretty much love all of the programs on PBS, but Globe Trekker and Nova are probably the best.
