hi fellow dread heads! i was just sitting thinking about how i could make my own decoration out of some normal house products. so i figuered i'd try some aluminum to form some kinda bead, and im actually very pleased of the results. what i did was just rip of some, twist into kind of a rope, and then twist it round a dread. i find it realy cool how you can youse your imagination and make it however you want, and bend your dread how you want. and it looks kinda cool too So i also wondered can this work as an replacement for rubber bands? ive read some bad roumers about rubber bands, and how they can be realy difficult to get out after being there for a while(that i can easily imagine). Also the preasure applied from the aluminum is more even then with a rubber bands, preventing those thight passages witch are not good for dreads, since it hinders the free movement of the hair. pluss they add weight witch feels great espesially newer shorter dreads. And it alost cost free.so what ya think? could it be a good idea?
im not sure about your aluminum...the only thing i can think of is if you don't replace them, they could get dreaded into the hair, and that would not be so great. and you can take the ruberbands out...i had rubberbands, and i hated them..i took them out, and my hair looked so much better and more natural..just separate a dread if 2 get stuck. AND if you put a rubberband close to your head it can thin out the hair, and your dreads could eventually fall out (so a friend tells me......feel free anyone to correct me if i'm wrong) i used to do hair wraps with hemp, i had a buddha i tied onto my hair...i had glass, wooden, and a brass bead. Also, find a cell phone charm you like, and you can use a felting needle, and almost sew it into your hair (the black part that you put through the hole on your cell phone to decorate it), and then you have a pretty charm. you can put almost anything in dreads....when i have long dreads i'm going to put a lighter leash on one. LOL.
yea i've heard bad things about rubberbands. but id still like something on the tip to keep the dread from going up, and make them look nice untill i they mature. it also dont shorten youre hair like rubber bands do(technically making them look shorter), witch i like couse my dreads are pretty short atm. Ive put a few rubber bands now and so far i actually got a realy good feeling this could work. what i do is i make them quite thin so their not that visible. then i make the ends pointy so that i can stick it thruogh the dread to keep them from falling out. but seriusly wouldnt this be a better option IF they dont fall of cuz they dont realy put much preasure on the dread, allowing the hair to grow pretty freely. but stil keeps youre tips together. Gues alot of you think its a whack idea since only one replied, but im stubborn and ill be back with pictures once i have proven they work peace im oute
haha. rubber bands can work for making tips round, but what i did with mine was i took hair from the end and sewed it back up into the dread with a felting needle, makes it round without using rubber bands. Personally i like natural dreads... don't make the tips round, dont rubberband them...they'll work out exactly how they are supposed to, don't worry about a thing. but, do whatever works for you
