i've done four of the five, so i would have to try the trash truck driver before i could say which one i liked the best....but out of the four that i have tried i would say being a janitor has its benefits: being able to listen to music while working, somewhat doing your own thing, and dealing with a minimal amount of people ----and soaringeagle, these may be lame jobs but they are great jobs for stoners
Because I'm a dishwasher(in the market atm) and I wanted to know what others opinion were... And I dont think being a janitor would be very lame, although I like to preform services... It makes me feel like I'm not being wasteful to people.
...what's exactly 'lame' about making some honest money? IMHO, that's exactly the kinda thinkin' that makes folks believe that illegal immigrants are actually doing the citizens of U.S. a FAVOR. Are we 'too good' to do certain things?
pearldiving i've done. the right kind of place it can be pretty mellow. last job i had that's what i did for five or six years in one place. they kept chainging managers every couple of years or so, and the rest of us had to sort of break them in. even though it pays less, it's mostly less stressful then cooking other then backup. so i prefer dw to spending all day over a hot stove, and their ain't no way i'd ever do 'display' cooking. same goes for fast food or landscape maintenance contracting as pushing a lawn mower is euphamistically refered to these days. only time i did janitorial was during basic when i was in the air force. the work wasn't bad but it was kind of depressing. the garbage truck i don't know. i have driven truck mounted equipment carriers and that was cool. and the garbage trucks they've got now with the robotic arms on the side to pick up the cans, or on the front for dumpsters, yah i think that might be a trip. i guess it would get old and if your mind wandered too much from the drive five feet and pick up another one you might find yourself spilling too many or something. so my favorite of those mentioned would be dw. that's one i could live with, have, and didn't mind doing so a damd bit. only thing wrong with all of them of course is rents cost more then any of them pay. i.e. not a living wage. i think if they paid just a little more or costs of living were enough lower to be covered by them i'd have absolutely no problem with any of them at all. you could have put low end warehouse labour and ag work, pickers and so on. the latter really breaks your back and don't pay crap. i've done a couple of much odder low paying jobs then any of those mentioned. one of which was had sorting rock as it went by on a conveyer belt. oh and 'cannery work' is another one. i worked in a place on a farm that preproccessed strawberries to make them into jam. at least it was inside work and the shed was nice and cool. had to be of course, for the berrys to not rot. probably the most miserable thing i've done, besides a couple of days attempting to get into picking and planting, which i just really couldn't, is roofing. me and the hot sun just don't get allong at all. =^^= .../\...
Im thinking of getting a job. I'll be rich. And theres this supplier I know, and if you have a job he's willing to spot large mounts. But the guys weird because he makes sure you actually have a job. I guess thats actually a good idea, he said he'll spot me half pounds and shit (I'll have to get help with friends to sell) because if something gets fucked up I can just easily pay him back with the money I get from work. So basically I'll e getting larger amounts, and I wont fuck it up either. So I'll make even more money. But I always end up spending the profit on something stupid. Like I bought and xbox the other week ( a used one for 40 bucks and like 10 games and shit) wich is a good deal but the games were like 15 a piece. I blew all that money. But I think it's worth it because now I still have enough money to re up and I have an xbox on my room and it's all mine..
You're very right! Especially trash drivers just have a job that has to be done. And actually isn't really dirty. Jobs as lawnmowing is perfect when I was a kid, but nowadays I wouldn't do that stuff. If you want a lawn, mow it yourself. I still do it for free sometimes for my parents though.
i would want to be a lawn mower. you get to be outside enjoying the fresh air. I have done it before and i'd have to say it's not a bad job. i love being outdoors all day. and you can't tell me you don't enjoy the smell of fresh cut grass!
If I had to pick one of these, I guess I would pick janitor, but probably not for a school or anything. My mom does that and it's kinda scary the stuff she's had to do... We have a company in town that hires housekeepers for the cottages that are around the lake around here, so I would probably do that. It's honest work and I know I'm good at it because I've done it before. Plus the views are great, as is the pay, because these people are LOADED. My back has always hurt when I washed dishes, I'd probably puke if something gross got on me while I was taking out the trash, lawn mowing would be too hot and I have allergies to grass pollen, and as for burger flipping... Well, I'd like to continue to eat burgers, and from what I've heard, once you've worked in that back room, you'll never eat them again. I'd rather remain blissfully ignorant about things that I find repulsive, but can't hurt me, rather than be informed, paranoid and miserable.
I dont know why ppl say that about the burger thing. It's really not that bad. The only way you would be shocked is if you thought magical burger fairys dropped them off in the first place.
:stunned: *scurries off to get her burger fairy, which she caught in a jar last summer, to prove you wrong*
Haha I work for a lanscaping place and have to actually mow lawns the odd times For 12 bucks a hour theres nothin wrong with it Rather that then stuck in office or something stupid inside, get out side, see all the nice ladies O ya and did I mention you can do it high as fuck with your ipod on nearly making you deaf?
