I play mainly acoustic guitar, and to be honest was pretty good at fingerpicking. However, me and my friend wanted to start a metal band, so i picked up a spiffy new electric and began working on all of the various plectrum techiniques. I accelerate pretty fast, as I absolutely love guitar, and in no time we had a pretty good thing going. But today, I just picked up my acoustic for the first time in months, and I can't finger pick worth shit!!! what's the deal? I know it's been awhile, but I feel pretty hopeless it's almost like I was never even able to do it.
yeah, that sometimes happens to me too when I go back and forth fingerpicking is a totally different ball game with all the fingers working. the coordination between my thumb and index finger gets outta shape pretty quickly. Now I've learned to balance out my practice. I think you just practice a little you'll find that your fingers "remember" the old habits, they just need a little reminder

as strange as this sounds Ive been using the same Pick for like 8years now. the same single pick has survived vicious attacks and and other complex manuvers. I highly recommend a Dunlop nylon .73mm pick, takes the licking and keeps on picking...
Classical guitar is so relaxing!. Id recommend everytime you learn a song learn it again but fingerpick it. If you want both. But besides that its which one you like more.
