Making Shrinky Dinks in the oven and funky designs with Spiral Graph.

Eating Pop Rocks and the candy called Bottle Caps.

Bazooka Joe with a comic wrapped around the gum and digging into Cracker
Jacks looking for the prize at the bottom.

Riding a Big Wheel called The Green Machine or a Ross bicycle with a 5-speed shifter.

    Snoopy Snowcone Machine...yummy.

More later if I think of them...
    Peace everyone

    candy cigarettes

toys, before plastic, that were made out of tin and held togather by tabs pased through slots and bent over, that could be unbent with a small screw driver to take them apart.

especially those propelled by windup mechanisms.

    matchbox cars and trucks

    dinkeytoys

erector set (mechano outside of u.s.)

    a.c. gilbert 'american flyer' s-guage.

    radio flyer red wagons.

    bentwood toboggans

tire swings, people and kids probably still make them,
but were doing so long before those home comercial swingsets ever started being sold.

skinneydipping. as teenagers in the 60s. and probably all along as kinds going back as long as anyone wore anything otherwise.

when public buildings were adorned with naked cherubs,
and no one screamed 'kiddie porn'.

yeah, the candy cig's, you blow powdered sugar out like smoke.

And small wooden airplanes using a rubber band to wind up the propeller.

Over the summer, I made a rope swing but made the seat from cut 2x4's instead of a tire... I never liked how they always had water in them.

Getting a bag of candy from the old candy shop on the corner for only a few pennies.

Selling lemonade and cookies on the corner for 10 cents each.

    Lawn Darts

    Clackers

Are clackers anything like Kabangers? Remeber those, a large marble thing on each end of some string, and you smash them together and the move opposite and up to smash again, going back and forth.

Yeah, I remember lawn darts... and someone was killed from one, then they were recalled forever.

How about catching fireflies in a jar to make a lantern?

I remember when you needed a can opener to open a can of beer, I still have a few of those can openers around somewhere.

How about gas for under 20 cents a gallon.

Any of you kids remember: Lionel Trains - American Flyer Trains - Mattel Shootin' Shell toy guns with Greenie stickem caps [like the Snub Nose 38 and Fanner 50] - Remco's Project Yankee Doodle Secret Rocket Test Center - Erector Sets - Hula Hoops - cigarette pack size, pocket transistor radios - Black & White TVs - Wide White Wall tires - TV programing dominated by westerns - bean blowers - Howdy Doody - colored sugar candy dots in rows on long white paper strips - buying half a popsicle for 5 cents at the corner store!

Do you remember when there were only three TV stations and they only broadcast in color during prime time?

In the future our kids will be telling their kids about the time when local network channels only broadcast in HDTV during primetime.

Do you remember when ALL TV stations signed off at midnight with a film or video, usually of the Navy Blue Angles or Air Force Thunder Birds doing aerobatics in straight wing fighter jets, or the American flag flapping smartly in the breeze, while The Star Spangled Banner Played? And, there was no TV all night until 5 AM when they put their test patterns up, accompanied by a maddening high frequncy audio signal. And then, at 6 AM, they signed back on with the same Star Spangled Banner film or video.

And radio was AM, wasn't stereo, and FM was unheard of? And the closest thing to Talk Radio was the news stations.

And don't forget 45 and 78 rpm records - then came the big advancement to 33 rpm LPs [Long Playing]-- and then, the really big deal - STEREO. And then, real-to-real tape recorders. [shades of Mission Imposible!]

I don't know if I have old school parents or if its because I live in the middle of nowhere, but I used to have atleat five boxes of candy cigarretes in my dresser,
I have at least 100-150 hotwheel or matchbox cars in my house,
I just shunned my brother a couple days ago for not getting me Bazooka Joe at the arcade,
my aunt had an old tire swing in her backyard until I jumped on it too hard and the rope broke.

see! Its still all the same-ish

Ah ,transister radios! I had one, used to listen to it with the earphone(no headphones or earbuds, like now) . It had a single earphone and my hearing is lousy in that ear now,but oh well. I used to listen in bed until I fell asleep, the Carpenters,Mamas and Papas,Andy Kim,bay City Rollers,Rolling Stones,Beatles, the great songs of the late 60's,early 70's. I still don't understand high-fi equipment,I was so happy with my little transister radio!
Pop rocks,I still buy these on occasion, when I find them. I used to sit in class and entertain myself through boring classes! And you can mix them with soda pop, regardless of the rumors. Banana seat bicycles,so comfy and the coolest ever, you could just ride around all day.You could ride all over, parents weren't so cautious in those days. They were busy popping valium, having cocktails, smoking, and watching all the cool talk, variety, and game shows of that era.It was a time when kids were free and parents encouraged you to "get lost" or "go find something to do","just be home before dark". What a fun time to be a kid! Cracker jack, pop rocks, tab soda,45 records(3 for $1),cool clothes, pet rocks, mood rings, platform shoes, groovy music, lava lamps, bean bags, klackers, creepy crawlers, rock'em'sock'em robots, original barbies,gi joes and hot wheels. We had the best, original "stuff' and grew up in the best era, ever.

My sister would get a pixie haircut. I remember 5 cent candy bars, CrackerJack for a dime, Fizzies and Pixie Sticks. The Chevrolet Corvair before Ralph Nader. Sputnik. The first Mercury Flights.
Sneaking out one night with two other friends for an all nighter at 14 and running naked through the Golf Course.
Going to the school nurse for my librium in the second grade. Watching the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show the first time.
Metal wheel roller skates with a key to tighten the toe and a strap around the ankle.
Getting an entire roll of Life Savers for a nickle. Real Silver Coins.
Learning Life's Lessons by example from my Dad and telling him decades later that, "If I am half the Father to my kids that you were to me, I will consider myself a successful Father." Dad shed a tear with that comment from me. He died a few years later.
I have many fond memories from then but the fondest are the ones before I got very sick at 4 years old and those are mostly faded away. Many things changed because of that illness. I remember summer vacations and traveling before the Interstate Highways.

In High School, we would get stoned, go to McDonalds and order an unmixed chocolate shake. That was back when they had to mix each shake.

There's no prize in Cracker Jack anymore. It's just a lousy sticker or fake tattoo. Lame.
