either that or I have some really screwed up digestive issues. I have really bad cramps in my stomach like all the time, I get nasueas easily, and I have anxiety.

For a long time I just thought all of this was a product of anxiety, but I worked my way out of that yet I still have all these symptoms.

This really sucks im 19 years old, and I miss out on a lot b/c I get too sick to go out almost everyday. As a matter of fact, as I type this, Im supposed to be lecture giving a group presentation that I really need the good grade for, b/c I didn't do so hot on my midterm, yet Im going to get a zero b/c I couldn't make it today.
That's just one example of how drastically this affects my life.

what do you guys think I should do?

    Hey,

First, you're not dying. Second, you need to go see a doctor, specifically a gastrointestinal specialist. It sounds like you have IBS, although it could be another manageable disorder/disease that may require treatment.

You're not alone, either. I definitely know what it's like to have debilitating digestive issues. Hang in there. If you get some professional advice you will be able to eliminate problem foods and find what sort of treatments work for you.

    Best of luck!

It's annoying, isn't it? I was like this for about a year because of anxiety. Since then, it has a tendency to come and go. No new advice from me. Like plastic said, go to the doc. Just letting you know I feel for ya.

Oh yeah, b-complex is a godsend. I take it almost every day along with a multi, ginkgo and ginseng. Helps keep me focused and anxiety free.

most of these characters complaining about gut ache probably eat garbage, one fellow i knew looked like crap because he ate crap. i mentioned to him that he should stop eating the volumes of macdonalds that he claimed to scoff down in one week. eventually it got so bad that his doctor finally told him that he should stop eating all macdonalds food if he didn't want to get worse. when he did he visibly lost 5 years.

most of these people complaining complaining about gut ache aren't the victims of some exotic complaint they just eat food that makes them ill. if they were eating good food and still had these complaints then i would say ok - go the next step and look for another reason.

That might be true in a lot of cases, but I can't tell you how upsetting it is when you are incredibly health-conscious and people tell you that you've brought your health problems on yourself. Most of the IBS sufferers I've known (and I as well) are strict, healthy vegetarians who work out regularly and don't drink or smoke. And every time they have gone to the doctor the doctor tells them to simply improve their eating habits. It's really not that simple, and demeaning the illness can cause a lot of grief for the sufferer.

My stepdad has that, but we're all pretty sure it's because he has sleep apnea, and he has sleep apnea because he's over weight, and he's overweight for a myriad of reasons (possibly including that he works the night shift), soooooo yeah.
He's working on getting the weight off right now, and is actually doing much better now that he's lost 10 lbs...

Yes, it could be IBS or a food allergy or just eating the wrong foods. It could also be an ulcer which if not treated can get really bad and turn into cancer. Anxiety can create ulcers along with stress and eating a poor diet. Anxiety can create stomach problems all on its own. The cure for anxiety is to face up to what is making you anxious and learn better to cope with the stresses and life in general. The treatments that help ulcers is antibiotics and bismuth (Pepto Bismol) or alfalfa/peppermint tea as well as avoiding junk food and other high fat and spicy foods. To help your system digest foods that it may not be digesting well take a supplement of enzymes. You can get vegetarian based enzyme supplements. I take them for my touchy digestive system. The treatment for food allergies is keeping a food diary of everything you eat and see if there is a pattern of symptoms versus what you ate that day or a day or two before. Then avoid that food. Otherwise see the doc. It could be simple or it could be serious. Once you got a diagnosis then you can choose to treat it yourself herbally or holistically or go the doc's route and take whatever he/she offers you.

    Peace, cricketlind

Just because the psychological effects of anxiety go it may take a while for physical symptoms to go. When I started my job I was very anxious and had palpitations which remained after I stoped feeling psychologically anxious. The mind is an amazing thing!

I will try to not to come across to 'nurse like' although it is difficult! But try relaxation techniques, walks, music, meditation etc. If there is anything on your mind, try and talk it over or write things down, perhaps try CBT methods on your own.

If it is IBS then try replacing milk products with soya or rice products, being careful with fresh fruits and vegetables that are high in insoluble fiber and eating frequent meals of small amounts of food. Red meat, chocolate and coffee are best limited too. Try getting a bit more fiber too.

Maybe then you can see whether it is IBS, if not then perhaps anxiety is still playing a part. But try relaxing either way - the worry about passing or failing will not help, although it is something that causes worry. I found it useful to use the CBT techniques to make things clear to me what my concerns were and what I could do to change my thinking etc. If you need anything - you know where I am!

if you have IBS and you don't know anything about fluoride, better read up on it. google is your friend. odds are fluoride is in your water, your food, and your dental products unless you're actively avoiding it already. the stuff is extremely hard on the gastrointestinal tract. just another of the downsides to living in babylon.
