Anybody using Aerogarden? I heard its good for indoor gardening and edable plants. Please let me know your opinions. I want to buy it.
Well I would imagine that it works. It's just a planter with a built in grow-light. The soil-free growth isn't new either, and it probably DOES grow things a little faster & bigger than conventional soil. But $150 for something that's not even two square feet? Sheesh. I'd hang a grow-light under a cabinet and run a row of pots & save myself $100 before I'd consider actually buying one! love, mom
it is a mini hydroponic system. if ever you are on their site, check out how expensive the seed cups are! Mama, I'm with you, I have a fluorescent under cabinet light. I think I'll set a row up there.
I have two. I really like them, expensive but fun. I have one with tomatoes and jalapenos and one with herbs. I got it to experiment with the hydroponics idea. I am now ready to go all out and build a big system in my basement to grow tomatoes, peppers and lettuce.
Hehehe...Another beauty of living off grid in the middle of nowhere! I think I will need a couple extra solar panels though! Funny, we were the first off-grid home in arap co. My DH had to teach the inspectors how it worked, they would probably think a thermal was some sort of solar phenomenon!
has any one tried the led grow lights? very little energy use very little heat would be ideal for off the grid ! not to mention reducing carbon foot print i havnt tried them so dont know how well they work! if anyone has pls post your experiance! peace!
aerogarden...? i just know for aeroponic... that's the new planting technology which developed by NASA... IMO, this is doesn't meant you are growing plants only with air (aero)... you still need the planting medium (instead of soil), water, and absolutely pot... i have a e-book how to indoor aeroponic... pm me if you interested...
My parents have one. They're neat, and like others have said work. But it's not anything more than an expensive hobby. You can't really get any kind of serious food production out of them.
They work, a local garden center here has one going in the garden dept. all the time. Too expensive IMHO but they DO work. I'm trying Earthboxes this year myself.
