Is hookah legal everywhere?

    I wanted to buy a hookah from Spain, but I wasn't sure whether or not it is legal everywhere. Was just worried about customs and what not. Anyone know anything about it?

    You shouldn't have a problem bringing it back to the US as long as it hasn't been used. It can be considered an art item or a tobacco smoking device (I'd go with that). Many people use it for smoking tobacco. It's not a bong. ;)

    That said, if they search and find it, they might think you are bringing in contraband and give you the thorough search!

    Only problems I can think of is if the cops around where you live aren't familiar with hookahs yet, they might think it is a sort of bong, and worst comes to worst, check to see what you're smoking out of it. The cops around here used to do that all the time, but now they've stopped.

    Bill: that's funny man, they sell scales, bowls, bongs, ashtrays with rastas smoking joints, all at the local cornerstores here. Shady as hell, I sometimes think it's a LEO ploy to lure stoners there and catch them.

    I have a single hose Hookah made in Jordan, I bought for $125, I used it to smoke Sisha (a desert tobacco) for years, untill I cleaned it, and bought a new hose, and started using it for Hashish and Oil's along with mary jane... :)

    We have hookah bars here which I've been to but never used the thought of sharing hookah with thousands of strangers with cooties just never appealed to me. And we have stores with hookahs displayed prominently in the front window which I'm sure they have those everywhere as well.

    They put a disposable mouth piece on the hookah in those places, so your lips are not touching where other lips have been.

    I got my hooka from a local head shop and still have the "for tobacco use only" sticker on it, always gets a chuckle

    ever used a fork or spoon from a restaurant. thousands of people have put them in their mouths. and I'm sure that the hookahs are cleaned inside and out. though sharing a hose with friends is usually a norm.

    I just bought a hookah and used it for tobacco and salvia... I have to hit it REALLY hard to get a good smoke... the top piece has VERY large holes in it... Do you guys have any suggestions as to what alternatives I have to maybe smaller bowl pieces? Maybe small brass bowls to go over it and put screen in it... I just want to make sure the top part to my hookah is as AIR TIGHT as posslible...

    I know a guy that went to the middle east and took a hookah into the gaza strip for someone he knows there. if you can get it into the gaza strip via customs, you can get it anywhere
