i was just reading this thread and it made me think of when my cat dies (hes thirteen and he's got really really thin recently) and i started sobbing just thinking about it, i dont know how it will be when he actually dies. im sorry for your loss man it sucks especially when youve known them all your life as they are part of your family.

I'm sorry to read about your loss. A couple of years ago I had to put let go of my dog, a Yellow Lab of 11 years. She had been ill for a few months and her bladder started to give out.

After about 4 weeks, I learned or figured out for myself, while still mourning over my loss, it was more meanful not to focus so much what I no longer had but to appreciate what I did enjoy for such a long time. The fun times from when we got her as a puppy through adulthood far outwieghed the end.

About 8 weeks after our loss, I got another Yellow Lab. In many ways she is simular to the one I lost but still in many ways she isn't.

Still, every few days, I still remember my first dog and miss her very much.
