I thought there was a member support forum for this sort of thing, but I couldn't find it after looking around quite a bit :(

But to the story; a friend of a friend was having parties half a year ago at houses which everyone that attended later found out weren't his at all, he broke into them. I went to two, and I wouldn't be very concerned (everyone's getting a couple of charges), well I would, but not horribly, except I'm the only other one besides some girl that's 18. Everyone else is getting a slap on the wrist for being a juvie, possibly including the kid that actually thought of breaking into all three of the houses and having the parties. The way it usually works is that the fucking investigators need to nail at least one kid hard to make an example, and it's easy to get me for it, which blows hard, all I did was go to a party some kid called me for :(. I mean, I'm not trying to be egotistical, but I'm not a bad kid, I wouldn't have gone in knowing the houses weren't his or his buddy's, and I'm probably going to get fucked over anyway. Now I get to hear my name on the radio and tv, and was in the paper this morning, it's pretty shitty. The paper says 21 kids are being charged, and I'm getting singled out, real hard, and I don't have any idea what to do. I'm in like the last quarter of my seinor year, and I'm drowning in papers and projects as is, I feel like killing myself is quite honestly on the table (well, smuggling myself away and being an acid-bum might be better, but eh), even if it sounds like an emo-bitchy thing to say. There a bunch of other stuff going on in the case, but I can't really get into it. Has anyone been in a situation like this, ever?

No. I avoid parties at strange houses so I don't run into these problems.

Get a lawyer and a good one. Hopefully given the magnitude of this, you already have. Stop talking about it online or to anybody you know is my first advice. Your admitting guilt as we speak. Deny til the end and do not take the first plea agreement.

My I ask what exactly you are being charged with?

All I can say is when you go to court, not guilty and request a lawyer if you can't afford one of your own. You could probably win this case.

I do not know the details of the case or the ins and outs of the American justice system, but killing yourself will solve what exactly?

No matter how bad it is, and it sounds pretty bad, there is no point in ending what may well be your only chance to do anything on this planet.

    Good luck.

Well it certainly kills stress. No, not seriously, I'm just feeling horrid, and probably will until this entire thing passes. thank you though :)

I agree, but no one person knows about my account on this site, and haven't said anything that I haven't already given away. I did get a good lawyer, expensive as it is, but I don't know if he'll be able to get me out completely for this one; I already have two "friends" that sold me out on being there because they thought doing so would help them, so denying it would do me no good; plus, being charged means they're going to fingerprint me, and I'm sure I riddled the place. I'm possibly getting any or all of the following:
"burglary, criminal trespass and criminal mischief", however since I'm being tried as an adult now, I'm not so sure if I would get worse charges.

Well, surely your lawyer could get you off on the fact that there is nothing that proves YOU were the instigator. I don't know shit about the laws when it comes to anything but drug charges, though, so I guess I can't help too much.

Being tried as an adult will actually help you in this instance, most likely. They're going to hammer a lot of those minors with heavy fines and penalties to hammer home the idea that they REALLY fucked up.

You'll have more negotiating room because you weren't the orchestrator and unless you took things from the house or helped in the break-in burglary isn't an option. Trespass can be argued that it was reasonably believed you were welcome to the house.

Criminal mischief is probably your biggest worry. Though if people try to include you in their exploits just to drag others down you may have to worry about the above and conspiracy....

I agree with soaringeagle. And I highly doubt if you get anything at all it will include jail time. My boyfriend's sister and her friends broke into a COP'S house when she was like 17, and she just got permanent criminal trespassing on her record. She was a minor, but man, it was a cop's house. I think unless you guys partied at a cop's house, you'll probably be alright.

This actually really does make me feel better about it, I'm just really scared that theyd try to go after the adult since they can pin them with more (and want to justify all the investigation by nailing at least one person, but actually nailing 21 is pretty good).

thanks guys, and haha no, I don't think either was a cop's house. The one had a lot of property damage to it (35,000, oy!), but I didn't have anything to do with it.
If, say, I serve as a witness to a sexual assault case for the state (being the only witness who they aren't going after on it) I think I could get some brownie points, too.

35,000 in damages? You're going to pay out the ass in restitution, I can tell you that much. Everybody is going to be charged out the ass in restitution. Be prepared beacuse that is probably going to be your biggest problem......
