ok every month someone from the marines army of airforce come to our school and try to get us to enroll in them. i just think its really dumb of them to get teens to singned up for the army than take them to the desert to be shot then send back. to tell their parents theyre dead. it just doesnt make sence to me.so today the airforce came and i askone of them what one good reason to join the airforce is and he said"well its really about honoring you country"and all that shit. i just kind of laughed and walked away. So what do you think of this?
I think the recruiter was a dumbass for trying to play on your patriotism. military service is great, if you don't get killed, permanently injured or mentally fucked, it'll be one of the best experiences you've ever had. camaraderie, no worries about food or lodging, learning lots of shit, especially about yourself, and it'll look real good on a resume, if that sort of thing matters to you. of course, I can see how it's not so tempting when your nation is at war and the chance of your life getting fucked is quite real.
thank you man. what i also dont get is they try to bribe you aswell they have fourms you fill out and you get like a dogtag or if you pay 10$ you can get the shirt and pant too. i don't like it man
They used to come up to us at lunch and ask us what our plans were and the first person who said they weren't sure they'd tell them how the military was the best route to go. I was often the person who didn't know.
I had a friend get sucked into the army from the recruiters in his school. He said they were his best friend and took him out to lunch and told him all this crap and as soon as he signed the papers they disappeared,, go figure. They feed him full of all sorts of stuff and made it seem like he would have it made if he joined the army and all sorts of collage scholarships and travel the world ect. He didn’t get shit, got out and said the GI scholarships don’t pay for much of anything and he ended up living in his parents basement going to community collage afterwards. Basically he wasted 4 years of his life for nothing.
I truly don't understand how the military is getting anyone to sign up these days, with the way they are treating their people. You get in and they won't let you out. You go to Iraq and they keep extending your tour. You get injured and it's "Bye, it's been nice knowing you." I cannot imagine how despirate people must be for money or whatever that they would join. And they better keep their hands the hell off my grandson.
Recruiters are "Fuckin Weenies" They are sales people for the millitary. Probably the worst kind of sales snake. I wouldn't entertain the idea of a mandatory service until the government was run completely corruption free. And it would also have to be something that was actually protecting America. No going to some 3rd world country "Spreading Democracy" by force. The Christians already tried that hundreds of years ago and failed miserably. I do see where it would lead to a greater sense of awareness, but right now all it would do is blind people from what is actually going on. The higher ups in the millitary now must absolutely hate the internet and it's free exchange of information. Nothing more than a bunch of filthy war mongers. If everyone would just quit killing eachother and start talking things out and leveraging internationally commodities to get what they wanted it would be a much better place. It's really sickening right now what the world is doing and it makes me ashamed to be a human being at times when I see what we are capable of.
Its only morally wrong if they lie. Most might, but not all. Many of the crusades were huge successes. There were periods where Christ and Islam were living peacefully togetehr. Thats idealistic. ...
i used to want to join the service. i thought it would be cool, badass, fun. but then i just actually thought for a second. why fight for a meaningless cause for someone who cares nothing about me. why kill another human who i could just as well live with, just because weve been programmed to listen to everything we have been told to do. stoooooopid
i like the army...their beliefs and such..now what i don't like is what they are used for. making anybody else believe what we believe is wrong in my opinion.
As a military wife, I will tell you, that the military is an excellent choice. It's a lifetime career option, you will be taken care of you and your family. Have you ever noticed that on the news they say "a soldier died today in iraq" and not how? Very very rarely it is how they died. Normally, it is caused by stupid mistakes. True. My husbands job is to find mines. What I don't like, is the month our baby is born, is the month he leaves. However, I support him in his decision, and he is honored by many, many people. The army is not "telling you what to do". It makes you man. A real man. People in your age group are usually afraid of it, because it transitions you from a boy.. to a man. It's not a bad thing, and this is a terrific life for us. We're very happy. It's not a matter of "go fight in this war", that's not why they are there. It's a matter of, do something with your life and be a hero. You ever see those commercials? With the parents? "It's the army." Then the soldiers talk about training, and education. "Good Education?" "It's the army." Back in the old days, kids would shoot themselves in smalltowns because they couldn't serve their country. Now in days, everyones afraid. America is full of pussys. Sorry for the language. That doesn't make you a pussy btw.
haha. i agree with pixie. But it is definatley a life style choice that a lot of people cannot handle...wondering if your loved one is going to be hurt, or sent over seas when you have something important going on in your life (baby, a death in the family, all of those sorts of things). I can understand being afraid, or simply not wanting to. I am not afraid, i simply do not want to go through basic training (i am one of the most un-fit people you'll meet). I also want to settle and have a family. how am i supposed to that when i have to be gone for atleast 1 weekend a month, and possibly leave my family for a year?
The death toll in Iraq is lower then spring break in Florida. The soldiers in Iraq hang out in a protected base and eat ice cream. It is not that people are afraid of that they don’t want to be a bunch of police thugs in another country roaming around terrorizing women and children, so the government can steal all of the oil.
You know, I've heard that before. Oh yeah - starting when I was 7 years old up until now! LOL, that's just me. I have to carve out my own little place in the world where things work my way and then live like a recluse as much as possible to avoid being discovered. That's a beautiful river you're wading in. Sitka - I'm assuming you're in AK?
