wow so, you admit that you cant deffend themn as being 1 in the same? thats a start why dont we start at the beginning and go from there...prove an invisible man said mumbo jumbo and a universe sprang into existence then prove how 2 people had incest and created such variertuy in races then prove how everything that makes sence scientifucly is a lie and total noncence i true\ prove how virgins give birth and how things that dont exist like devils and demons are out to ruin us prove here heaven and hell are and how the devil affords the heatting bill and then prove how ritualistic canabilism scares away the monstors prove just 1 single christian belief without resorting to bible nonsence in fact yes just prove jesus existed period the romans had a trial and a burial wheres the records? he suposedly did such miracles why only 1 book? hell even a miracle diet gets hundreds of books written about it hes suposedlyt the savior of all dont you think if he was real thousands of books would have chroniclked everythijnhg from how he ate to how he slept and every interaction with every11 he ever met? millions followed him yet only 12 or so were ever willing to write about him to prove he existed/ ok 1 fact prove to me how a flood can cover all land on earth when theres not enough water in the universe to cover 1/2 of it/ prove anything at all but without quoting the bible
I'll get to this tomorrow (I am tired and it is 1AM). But I will briefly state that 1) those aren't my beliefs, 2) defending belief and offering proof are two different things, I will do the former, 3) belief in Christ and belief in a god are different. If we suppose Jesus existed, he could still be only a man. Defending that Jesus is a messiah and defending that Siva the Preserver are different things. (note: I said defend belief in A god, not THE god)
hmmm this 1 maybe capabl;e of independent thought... who knew ok i'll simplify your task define what it takes for A god to be THE god
Eagle, if you ask around, there are several other religions that believe in Jesus. Not all as Savior, but there are many that acknowledge his existence...
All those people are stupid/misinformed. Sad, but true. Its the sheep mentality. Christianity preaches that unless you worship THEIR GOD you're going to hell. So of course the people gullible enough to believe it will follow.
lol. a third of the world is stupid and misinformed, simply b/c you dont agree with their views. amazing....
Prove that the world is round Prove that things are composed of atoms Prove that the Earth revolves around the sun Prove that the theories of macro/micro evolution are true Prove that abiogenesis is how life originated... but without quoting a science book or website. hell, prove to me that you aren't just a brain receiving electrical stimulation in a some mad scientist's jar and your just hallucinating all of this.
Bring up reason and facts, and the sheep just throw out ridiculous claims and arguments. Riiight. We're all just brains in jars... Get a grip.
How about his other, very proper claims, such as to prove that things are composed of atoms? Is that a rediculous claim? Seems pretty reasonable a challenge to me. Considering that a belief in God is the same as the belief in the atomic structure, until you've worked with either, your going on what you read in a book or have been preached to by a preacher/teacher.
That's true. Many Hindus for example accept Jesus as an Avatar. A divine being who descended to the earth to teach humankind.
Well that requires a leap of faith, for believers of any religion. Why does a Vaisnava hold Visnu to be the supreme godhead over Siva. Why do Saivias hold Siva to be the supreme godhead, etc. It requires a leap of faith. I guess for me my belief in Christ also comes from that, 1) if we suppose that he did in fact exist, then something really must have happened to his body after his death that sent his disciples in the whirlwind of preaching. Also, the messiah was not supposed to die at all. If the wanted him to be the messiah, they would have had to make it like Jesus never died at all (as Muslims claim). Jesus died, and the scrambling to make sense of it is found in the NT. I am not the sort of guy that will use the obvious circular reasoning, "Jesus said he will die in the Bible, and he DID (it says so in the Bible)...wow!" . So then 2) If we suppose Jesus existed, and something did happen to his body after death (you know, strange stories of being to walk through walls, but then able to be touched... odd, no?) then I choose to take a leap of faith and worship the God he espoused. The belief in any god is really a leap of faith, well, the belief in anything of this sort is really a leap of faith. For me, the belief in Jesus and his god is what suits my life. If I didn't have the crush I did in high school, maybe I wouldn't have went this route. But when that didn't really work, why would i have kept it up if there was no hope if I really did not believe? I think more attention should be placed on the word "believe". I do not claim to "know there is a god", or to "know that Jesus did X", or "know this or know that". Even the creeds begin with it, "I BELIEVE..."
You must think very little of the human population. Muslims should be included too (you know how much they hate it when they are left out) because the Qur'an and Hadith included have many other similar contradictions. and really, private revelation in a cave, come on. In the words of FedUp, you'd have to be delusional to believe in that. That would be about 3-4 Billion now. What makes Hindus and buddhists any more special than Christians? Surely the idea of a 4 armed blue god is silly, chalk up one more billion! so you are telling me that more than 83% of the world (and remember, we aren't counting Buddhists, Jains, Jews, and other religions in this) are stupid and misinformed? If you think that one religious group is a group of sheep, then go after all of them. you have shown how 1) highly you think of yourself for possessing an amazing logical brain and 2) how low you think of other people who do not agree with you because you claim that the vast majority of the world is gullible enough to believe in a god, and afterlife, and hold a supernatural worldview.
I have to say, I have some burried threads in the Sanctuary about Love and God and comparing my own thoughts on the Trinity with that of the average Christians understanding on the matter, and though I may be very different and against much of the Bible in my way of thinking, I was accepted more pleasantly and with more acceptance there than my threads have ever been anywhere else on this forum. Just saying, of course.
If you think Christians have it rough here, check out the "Fuck Allah" thread in the Muslim forum. The anti-Muslim sentiments are so rank I've ended up defending Islam.
Well. Christianity is the religion most American atheists broke away from or felt pressured by so that is the one they're most equipped and willing to attack. And it's a lot easier to attack something online then in real life, obviously.
Can't you people stop arguing?. Haven't any of you learnt from the wars of the past? I think we need to grow up and start accepting people for who they are-because none of these arguments are about God or fairness, they are about trying to prove your own worth by proving yourselves right. Haven't you learnt that this is one argument that can never be won? The hate that people hold is truely sad. If you really think the christians are brainwashed idiots who are blindly following a book, then why are you arguing with them and hating them? Would it not make more sense to feel upset and try and help them. I think you would find they don't feel they need help, and the non-christians here don't need help either. So we aren't helping eachother, shouldn't the matter be closed? arguing never benefited anything, it only caused wars.
