Obviously, Phish pays many a homage to other artists in practically every set.
    Best:
Frankenstein, 2001, Ginseng Sullivan, Psycho Killer, Boogie On Reggae Woman...and my personal favorite...If I Only Had A Brain.

Can't say I dislike many...I've heard a few When the Circus Comes I could have done without.

    What says you?

I'd have to put "Gettin' jiggy wit it" way at the top of my list... the talk box solo is unreal haha

La grange is pretty sick too

    Bad covers? hah.

well some covers have been more or less jokes and shouldn't really be taken seriously.

Ya Mar and 2001 are for sure the best...Ya Mar because they make you believe its their song..

I really like the covers of Beatles songs, particularly "Rocky Raccoon" and George Harrisons "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". I remember hearing an entire show that was all Beatles tunes, but I can't remember the date. Anyone know?

I believe that was Halloween 1994...that show featured come crazy costumes, a complete rendition of the Beatles' White Album and I think that might have been a Harpua show too...fuckin' fantastic.

Speaking of Harpua, their cover of all of Dark Side of the Moon on 11-02-98 is INCREDIBLE.

When the Circus Comes is actually my favorite phish cover, I think its pretty soulful. Always a great trey solo.
Sweet jane is also a good one.

the Dark Side cover has to be one of the greatest Phish moments ever. Harpua>Dark Side of the Moon>Harpua....and the first set of that show is the sickness and the first half of the second set before they go into Harpua, is amazing. its a great show. and not one thought it would be, seeing as it was the first show after halloween and it was in the middle of Utah...well a 1/4 full venue was treated to one of the best nights of Phish ever!!!

I learned to tolerate their joke covers but that Gettin Jiggy crap in Hampton had me almost heading to the box office for my money back....

greatest album cover imo, is Remain In Light, halloween 96.

I feel what they learned from that album helped them shape their post 97 sound (for better or worse)

    ^^

without a doubt, they killed that Talking Heads album....its really opened up some doors for them....

i think too many people don't give the "Revolver" cover enough credit. they threw down that night!

"while my guitar gently weeps" off of live 13.
also frankenstein is really sick off of live 13 as well.

i dont listen to phish enough to hear a bad cover.

i don't want to sound like i am just trying to start conflict....

but i hate when they play "Guitar gently weeps".....they seem to tack it at the end of some of the most amazing sets and i think it just brings down the energy of the set. never liked it. there have been a few times when i wish they would have just thrown in a Tube instead of a "weeps''....

check out Live 13 (when they cover the entire white album)... the version of while my guitar gently weeps off of there. If you dont like it I dont know what to tell you man. Trey plays the solo better than Harrison did.
I am not really a credible source when it comes to phish... I have listened to limited phish material and am not really a huge fan.
I'll have to give them another chance.

.. that's not George Harrison on guitar, it's Eric Clapton.

a couple more good covers are 'Roses are Free' and 'Loving Cup'
