When it was cool to be anti-gay

I remember when teacher's wouldn't care kids using the word faggot and fag, everybody used it!

 

who cares? faggot is still used... just not publicly... lol

 

I remember those times. My friends would use the word faggot then say "Hey, it means 'a bundle of sticks!'"


I just looked it up, and what do ya know they were right!

 

lol, our teachers would tell us to be more polite when we used words like " shit, asshole etc " that's why we used " fag " as that was overlooked.


A few times a teacher, well actually only one ( our Gym Teacher ) told us that it was a word used against men who liked other men, this was in elementary school, they didn't talk about homosexuals, in fact even in High School our teachers never commented on our use of the word.

Only when I got to University I was told that using that word openly might get me some strong looks because all the Universities have gay pride clubs on campus.

But now, some of my friend's younger brothers have gotten heat, one of my friends, his younger brother is finishing Grade 7 this year and his teachers told him several times not to use the word fag because it's a bad word.

LOL, it's just like how some of my friend's fathers use the word " ****** " and " spick " LMAO!

Ahh, it's just hilarious how generations change.

 

Really? at my high school there were so many guys that used the word faggot, gay as slang etc etc. For many of them calling people gay was some sort of insult- but i think alot of these guys were gay themselves and insecure about it. But it was very pathetic. Nowadays it annoys me to hear the word gay used as an insult.

Yeah I agree, a lotta the wannabe cool kids use the word " gay " so many times it's lost all meaning, for example:

Jim: " Yo man, you hear bout Jeff last night, guy was so fucking wasted "
Ted: " Ha, he's so gay "
Jim: " Yeah man he's so weak he had like, like 2 beers and he was wasted "
Ted: " Ha, that's so gay "

ETC.

I rather use " lame " instead.

 

I know, thats typical of teenagers i think. Its patheic. No wonder gays are still so ashamed to come out when the very word is now used as an insult. Funny thing is the people who use these terms aren't even religious, so they have no reason to care. Mindless

 

The first time I ever heard the word faggot it was in regard to the controversial release of the movie Cruising.

I think I was 5 years old at the time and everyone was up in arms over that movie threatening to boycott it
