Hi. I've been planning to run away with the Family for a few years now, but I'm waiting for my favorite person to be ready. I dragged him out to Ocala this year, and he fell in love with the Family. However, we decided we wanted to save up as much money as we could and leave from Ocala next year. But now we've ended up in a bad renting situation with a friend who doesn't want to work and seems to think that he can just live off of the inflated rent he's charging us and lord over us because he owns the place. I feel like I'm rotting away in this ghetto, and after a long hard trip last night we started thinking about maybe going to nationals in July and staying out on the road till we run out of money. My favorite person works with a lady who lived with the Family for many years, and she's willing to help us out by giving us a list of places we can stay between Gatherings. I know that when I was out there, I was extremely happy, but now it seems like I see it through this foggy Babylonian filter, and I'm scared. Anyways, I guess what I need is your honest advice, and encouragement to get through this tough time. I miss the sunshine, but I'm afraid to leave my house because I live in such a shady place.

I lived in Longwood (Longwalk) for 5 years and cooked at the Dennys at I4. Florida in general sucks the life right out of you. I sure am glad to be here in The Great North West! I hope and pray you have the best of luck getting out of that hellhole! Do they still hold the Zellwood Corn Festival? That was the best time i had during the time I did there.
I don't live in Orlando proper any more, I recently moved to the shittiest part of Kissimmee. I don't know what any of the things you're mentioning are, so please send me more info, because I need to get out of my house. I'm feeling very stale and unproductive as I can't get a job due to certain factors like previous criminal charges, and my inability to speak Spanish which is a requirement for a lot of places that are within walking distance. I try to be creative and productive from home by making art and jewelry and sewing, but sometimes I just look outside at the beautiful sunshine and I want to exist in it so badly but I don't feel like it's worth the threatening stares and gestures. I'm weighing out all of my options still. I do like the idea of a commune but I don't know if I'm ready for it. Anyways, thanks to all of you for your support and advice. It's good to know that other people get it.

sister, i hear you completely... im right now back home from after the ocala gathering.. wasn't it heaven on earth?? well.... here's how i see it.. i too have been wanting to travel and see this country with kind people for years.. and i know one day i will be. YOU ARE NOT ALONE~! : ) just keep enjoying the days, whereever you are.. one day your hearts dream will be reality, just dont let go of those dreams~! : ) there will always be another gathering, me too, right now, believe i will be taking off from next years ocala... oo.. somewhere : ) that's what i can see.. until that day, i'm looking forward to it, and trying to just take it easy, ya know? city seems funky, but i just breathe and love, still.. cuz i know that i have a lot to share with the city as well.. be proud of who you are~! if only the city knew of your heart and be easy with the days until you leave~! cuz the city sometimes can make you weary. just know that you aren't alone, and one day your dreams will come true.

It seems everything is going to work out after all. Sam (said favorite person) tries to tell me these things all the time, but I never listen and he's always right. I talked to a friend of mine who is pregnant and I'm going to live with her and she's going to charge me discounted rent while I take care of her baby for her while she works. Also, Sam informed me that if he stays at his current job, which he loves, he'll soon be promoted to position which comes with the benefit of covering all of your moving expenses if you choose to transfer. So that means we can afford to go to Nationals with the money we've already saved up, I don't have to live in Kissimmee anymore, and eventually we'll find ourselves living in the northwest which I've always dreamed of. I'll also be living right by a community college and a university, so there should be lots of job opportunities for me within walking distance. Plus I can take advantage of my pre-paid tuition. Anyway, I just wanted to update everyone who was kind enough to take the time to assuage my fears and insecurities, that things are improving. And you really did help me out a lot, and I hope to keep in touch with all of you. Thanks.
wow i can totally relate and feel you when you said you are scared because you are beginning to see thru babylon filter, man o man does that ring true for me a lot. i spend too much time away from what is real and true and too much time surrounded by unkind beings i begin to see like that and question my self. but i know that is just the energies of babylon trying to latch on to me and i won't let that happen. when i shed it all, the things, the situations, and get down to the real dust from the sunshine, i know that my true core belongs on the trail where living may be a bit more rough, but the joys are greater than mountains.
