Maybe this is not at all the kind of program you're looking for, but I guess you might wanna try Fruity Loops, a pretty versatile program you can make a lot of different styles of music with. Good luck!

Hmmmmmm it depends what kind of DJ you are going to be, which it sounds like you obviously haven't decided. Do you want to do it using some skill (Mixing vinyl and to some extent mixing CDs) or are you going to do it all through laptop and mixing programs like virtual DJ, fruityloops etc where you use Cds, or most of the time, MP3s.

I think you need to go away, have a think about it and then get back to us. :)

When I was talking about skill I actually meant doing it to some extent on your own (Turntables or Cd mixers etc) not just relying on a computer program to do it all for you, because if you use something like Virtual DJ etc you can literally just drag and drop, click a few buttons and everything's in sync. Once you start grasping effects it does get more complicated, but sometimes not as much as say using a mixer.

The music programs that were advised above are pretty good for what you're aiming for:

    fruityloops
    Virtual DJ
    Tractor
    etc

    Have fun :)

all the top producers in the electronic scene are using ableton live now

it gives you full control over each instrument, so if you want to keep the bass line and lose the vocals in a track, you can easily do it with this program. I dont own it, nor do i know how to use it, i just know its what all the best people use.
