If you guys haven't already heard yet, he nation's largest telecommunications companies -- including AT&T, Verizon, Comcast and Time Warner -- want to be Internet gatekeepers, deciding which Web sites go fast or slow and which won't load at all. They are essentially lobbying to overturn Net Neutrality, which is a law that ensures equal and open access to Internet for everyone. Think of Net Neutrality as freedom of speech for the Internet. If they succeed in overturning it they will have ultimate control of what goes on the Internet. This means they will charge large sums of money for certain websites (big ones like eBay, Yahoo, Google, etc) to get a high-speed connection while other sites will load much slower (unless they pay). On top of that they will be able to remove sites from the Internet for any reason.

We must make sure this does not happen. So I urge everyone to take a few minutes to write an email or make a phone call (preferably both) to your representatives in Congress and tell them to sponsor the Internet Freedom Preservation Act of 2008 (HR 5353):

Also if you have a web site or blog you should help promote the website organizing this effort to uphold Net Neutrality:
