Okay, sop I've had m,y dreads for over a week now,
    (9 days)
and They are still being stubborn and having a hard rttime locking,
I know this is normal this early into their formation

but I want them to lock faster,
I end up sitting here, and re-dreading them (for lack of better words)
    everynight,
I would like to knwo if there are any alternatives, that won't leave residue, for Wax.

    Anything householdly..?

    and if not,

something a little less expensive and gross feeling..

Any tips on how I can help them lock faster..?

    Thanks guys

Do you palm roll them? That's been helping mine, personally. Other than that, I think salt water and lemon juice should help... Of course, I'm not totally positive on that. ;P

and yeah I heard that lemon juice && salt water help them

So I think tonight I'll put some sea salt water in them... (?)

    Hopefully that helps

don't re-backcomb them because it ruins the knots your hair is forming naturally and in a way puts you back at square one..

dont re back bomb them, it can damage your locks and it will make the process even longer, just leave them be and dont wash them at least until a few more days, your dreads are too delicate right now.

Keep em in a wooly hat if possible, and put some beads in the particularly weaker ones then once another 5 or 6 days have passed try washing them in salty water - I remember I wanted mine to lock fast when I was at your stage, but I quickly learnt that time and patience is the only thing that creates beautiful dreadies
    :)

Then before I knew it my locks were getting tighter, just enjoy the journey and dont worry so much on how they look. just that you are taking care of them and they will knot up eventually.

    Good luck on your journey

instead of wax try pure aloe gel

    it will wash right out
and is good for your hair
    (use sparingly and rarely)

other then that just be patient and stop fussin with em

seprat em weekly or so (rip 1 from another a roots so they dont combine)

So it seems liek I've been doing the right thing..

I'll go try some Aloe gel

well, i assume your problem is the tips undreading all the time.
i had this problem first time i had dreads and it was realy time consuming to keep them together.

this time however im using rubber bands(but they must not sit to tight), and basicly the only maintainence i have to do now is palm rolling, witch in my expirience DOES help.

so far i cant se why not to use rubber bands on the tips as it keeps them from falling out espesially during showers.
. ive only had my dreads for 3 weeks, and already atleast 5 of them are getting tighter and tighter.

i dont realy have expirience with the dont do anything with your hair thing, so i cant say what works best between putting work in em and rubberbands etc. or leaving it be
personally i like to controll how good my dreads end up by putting alotta love and hard work in them.

but in the end its a matter of preference on how you want your locks to look like.

Have you stopped to think maybe you shouldnt try to 'keep them together'?
That STOPS them from knotting properly. Bands thin hair at the scalp, and backcombing HAS TO fall out before it starts to actually tighten.

I'm sorry, but three weeks is nothing at all. Thats not even really dreads yet, thats just goofy backcombed hair. And thats coming from someone who backcombed.

Those bands WILL cause you some problems in the long run of things.

bands must come out or be swallowed\
swallowed bands rot and cause a sticky stinky mess
bands should come out within days of backcombing if u backcomb
by 3rd wash theyd alreasdy be starting to get swallowed and starting to dry rot
removing them after too long will require ripping out a few knots..or breaking the bands and potentialy loosing peices to rot inside the dreads

crochet the tips in the dread, or twist and rip them from time to time. That helped mine.

    id advise against crochetting dreads
    it weakkens them
u poke holes thru the dreads breakking hairs as u do

    dreads take no9 effort
u can put as much effort into em as u wanna but alotta the effort only weakens them in the long run and is wasted energy
