    No shit
I hate supposed "scary" movies now a days
    They are so retarded.

I just got back with my sister and her boyfriend from seeing "Prom Night".
    Horrible.

Directors can not make scary movies anymore.
I have not seen a single movie that scares me or so much as makes me flinch sense I say the movie "It".
Yeah, thats' right, "IT" was scarier than movies now a days.

And me and my sister and her boyfriend has discovered why.
Because people take the big killing moment way too fucking long.

There is a ring of truth to that. I remember my parents letting me watch the Evil Dead when I was no older than 12. I was fascinated by the hype surrounding it, and wanted to see it. I loved it, but when I left my cousins house and went home in the stark daylight surrouding it I really felt disturbed. I got over it though, and now I am a religious freak.

Nightmare on Elm street, Halloween, Salem's Lot all used to give me the heeby jeebies as a young man, but so did darkness, wetness and coldness together and also being in large buildings alone after dark whilst my friends have snuck in and a re playing pranks on me.

    Erm.... Sisters of mercy!

    Yeah scahahahahary films.

Don't watch Hostel it's fucked up. It really is on another level. Read a book about flowers instead, or how to make bread. Just leave the analysis of psychopathic tendencies to arseholes like Eli Roth and Quentin Tarantantara.

i don't think it's so much that as that we're all so incredibly jaded. scooby doo makes my girls jump. when i was very small, my favorite movie was poltergeist, mainly because it scared the shit out of my older brother and did nothing for me except look cool and fun.

that said, yes, i confess, the blair witch project made me shit my pants. especially the part where the guy's facing the corning (after the backstory about facing the corner). thhe other one that got me was called the darkness or some shit. fucked me up. but then, i'm still afraid of what's in the dark that i can't see.

it was the sounds that got me. the rest of the cheese was wretched, but the sounds in the dark? oh yeah. i was a suburban girl.

i'm proud to say though that i never thought it was real. remember how many people thought it was real? jeez, did they watch the preview/documentary?

recent advances in film technology have allowed directors to abandon such things as suspense and surprise and replace them with extreme amounts of gore

also, somebody recently decided that jerky movement is terrifying, especially if done by an asian girl

word. and shit jumping out of corners, sudden loud noise from near silence. stupid tacky shit, makes me jump sometimes but its just obnoxious

i prefer more psychological crap, and things that are genuinely creepy. i seem to recall the cell having genuinely creepy imagery in it. the critters in silent hill (movie from video games) were pretty creepy too, but the storyline was, well, disappointing about halfway through it.

i did -really- like the reaping though. not so horror-y as some. thirteen ghosts was tacky as fuck and fun. skeleton key was cool, not the worlds greatest and i hated the ending, but the rest of the story was hella fun. invasion was a good retelling of the story, imho.

did i mention i work in a movie store and get free rentals? heh

anywho, go see the nines. no its not a horror flick but i think its fabulous. therefore you all should see it, just because i said so

I guarantee if you put you into your mental state at age 'kid' and plopped you down in front of all the shite new scary movies you'd shit your pants too. It is the unfortunate side effect of growing up that movies can no longer scare.

I dunno...the Saw movies freaked me out pretty bad because I knew a guy twisted enough that I know he'd do that if he had the resources. And I know I'd be one of his victims. :shudder:

fear is based on prejudice. its good to see it no longer being romantacized if that is actually the case, which i somehow kind of doubt.

I don't like the new stuff, old school is the best school...I haven't been to the theatre in over a decade so I haven't seen any of the Saw movies or stuff like that.

Not many movies have actually scared me. I love the cheesy old ones because they are hilarious. Motel Hell, Brain Dead (I kick ass for the LORD!), Kingdom of the Spiders, April Fools Day, Happy Birthday To Me, Halloween and Prom Night (originals)...All the zombie movies are good. I love Jaws and Texas Chainsaw Massacre to death.

The ones that creep me out the most are The Changeling (George C. Scott), The Others, When a Stranger Calls (Carol Kane)...stuff like that. No chainsaw wielding boogeyman, just plain creepyness...
