with my friend. about being homeless.
well it won't be exactly like being homeless, but we're going to find like 4 or 5 days when we dont have school and have nothing better to do.
the rules are we can't change, shower, eat, or get money from home, we can only buy food with the money we get from bumming around. Like we're going to have to sleep at home because my mom wouldn't let me just dissapear for 5 days, but that's all. (she has a video camera we're going to like hide in her jacket or something)

We tried it for like an hour today, and some guy came and gave us sandwiches cause he thought we actually were homeless. so we ate one and gave the other one to a real homeless person.

We ended up getting like 5 dollars in change but then some other homeless guy stole it...
And then got yelled at for loitering by some creepy police man who like followed us for a few minutes.

anyway it was interesting cause all the rich people just glared at us but like the few people that did give us change we like had a convorsation with and they were like not poor or anything but not rich, like minimum wage jobs and shit.
anywayyyy I think it wil lbe interesting ,any money we dont spend on food we will give to real homeless people. I hope we go through with it, knowing us we'll probably just say fuck it and not do it.

Well, it would be much more realistic if you didn't sleep at home of course...

    But good luck. :)

haha yeah, maybe like one night we can say we're sleeping at a friends house and do that, but 5 nights wouldn't work .

That sounds like a very cool thing to do, just be careful. I lived the homeless (with perks quite similar to what you described, my parents made me come home most nights) life for about a year after I graduated and it was AWESOME. Granted, it's easy to get by on little to nothing in a tiny town with lots of friends (we made buddies with all the clerks at the gas station that sells burgers), so we got free food and sodas (probaby a good 60% of what we spent money on anyway) a lot. We paid for everything else with change we found and money we got selling pot out of our friend's camper. It was sooooo much fun and I'd love to go back, but at the time everything was just ideal to be a bum and now I'm fighting tooth and nail to be a functioning, productive member of society.

Well that's awesome. I'm writing a couple stories about being homeless, I'd love to hear how it goes... I understand your mom not wanting you sleeping on the streets at 15. I did the homeless thing for a while and it really was awesome, but we had money and we used it all, we didn't ask for money ever, we were too something to do that... sometimes people gave us an apple or a sandwich and it was always poor, or blue collar people who talked to us, gave things to us, or just didn't look at us funny.

That's because poor average joes know or fear what it's like to be down and out and are glad they're not in a position to be homeless or beg for change. It's a lot easier to give what little extra you have when you understand a little where homeless people are coming from. Wealthy people don't usually seem to understand that life can be really hard for people living barely within or below their means.

    Thats very true
I stopped giving money to beggars/homeless people here a long time ago though for some reasons...and I am far from rich.

I wish you luck, and I'll suggest, that when you're older, repeat the experiment and sleep on the street, too. It can really change the experience.

OK, the idea seems ok I suppose. But I really don't understand how somebody can 'do the homeless thing' for a while and say that it is awexome. I suppose if you choose to live like that for a while and have money, you might have a goood learning experience and have your eyes opened a little. But for anybody who has had to live on the streets, I doubt that the experience was that great.

I've never had to live on the streets. I lived out of my car for quite a while though, and honestly wish I never would've stopped.

Anyway, that's an awesome idea you've got going on. Definitely should youtube it when you're done.

houses tie you down forece you to be slaves to jobs have bosses and wase sooo much of your time just keeping that roof over your head

i dont like the term homeless i preffer houseless
home is wherever u want to call home
wether its a car or bridge or box
(expensive box as in house or apartment..or cheap box as in..box)

i you ant todo this right, organise
get 12 or so ppl withhomes.. 12 without
setup up a shantee town or tent villiuage
all 24 spend qa week or 2 together..in winter sharting experiences stories and hardships
completely immerse yourselves in the experince

just a vid showing rich ppl snubbin u and poor ppl helpin u does expose alot of the probs with society but ya can go much deeper

^ yeah that's true but seeing as we're still in highschool and most people wouldn't want to do something like that, i dont really have the resources to set up my own vilage. plus i doubt i could find 24 homeless/non homeless peopel to do something like that.

    it does sound interesting though.
and yeah i will put it on you tube after wards, we are planning to like meet homeless poeple and shit so it wont be the same thing each day. i just realised my sis has a tiny video camera that uploads vids straight to youtube so that will work.

Well I did have to live on the streets, I had nowhere to go, but I met a lot of people who had to live on the streets, and though they could've probably found somewhere else to live eventually, at that time that was the only thing they had, but they chose to make the most out of it and preferred the comfort of their situations...

Now, I was fortunate to not have any addictions or severe mental problems, so I was lucky and being homeless would be ideal in a more ideal society... since our society is so commercial based it makes it tough for family and friends to understand that being without a home is simpler, natural and can be absolutely great... of course I'd not be happy about being homeless in a grimy urban city, but in natural surroundings it is awesome.
