I haven't seen this discussed here yet. Dutch politician Geert Wilders movie Fitna has caused quite an uproar in the Muslim community. Has anyone seen it? This movie was posted on Live Leak, You Tube, and Google Video at one point. I don't know where it is currently available online. Any thoughts, comments?

I think it goes to show that neither side has any sense of humor whatsoever.

I mean, one guy is a rabid racist, and the other side is a pack of humorless fanatical churls that refuse to enter the 13th century.

If I was going to do something like this, I'd advertise a movie about Allah, and it would just be a bluescreen.

But they probably wouldn't get the joke anyway.

I saw it. It didn't faze me, and it seemed like the usual propagandist fear-mongering. Of course there are fanatical people out there. I don't need this video to show me that. I just don't think these people are capable of doing anything on the scale of 9/11, without help from their Western handlers. Even if this nonsense we are being sold about terrorist boogeymen is true, why should I worry about it when the chances of me being killed in a so-called "terrorist attack" are worse than being stuck by lightening. It's the government, which uses such events -- real or promulgated -- to foreward their own agendas, which affects everyone.

Besides, if you do the research, you will see many of the people that were allegedly involved in 9/11 weren't even fanatical Muslims. They drank, snorted coke, ate pork, attended strip clubs and slept with prostitutes. They also trained on US military bases, but let's just ignore that because the fanatical Muslims want to get us.

    Baah.

I'd just like to agree emphatically with that, Rat, since I so often speak up when I disagree.

There are Islamic nations with elections, topless beaches, and drug tourism; there are places in the former USA where that kind of behavior will cause you to be threatened, harrassed, arrested, tazed, and beaten before being caged.

I think our own Fundies are the greater threat to humanity, especially with their belief in a final war to end it all.

Rat, do you know who Sayyid Qutb is? Do you know his significance in the rise of militant Islam? (Google and Wiki will give you a general idea who he is) I think anyone who wants to understand WHY there is terrorism and WHY some Muslims hate the west, they should read some of the writings of Qutb. It will become quite clear.

"These people" can't do what - fly planes? And who does "these people" refer to - Arabs or Muslims?
I always find it ironic the way you start a statement with "if you do the research" and then proceed to repeat some completely debunked internet conspiracy myths. I mean seriously, what is your definition of "do the research"?

And I always find it funny that someone would think that killing thousands of civilians is OK for muslims but eating a ham sandwich is a sign of an unbeliever.

Well, Hiptastic, your "location" would appear accurate because you are indeed trapped within the matrix.

First of all, when I said "these people," I was referring to the Muslim boogeymen we're supposed to all be in fear over. A person with the least bit of intelligence should be able to understand that a person who cannot even fly a Cesna, isn't going to be able to execute manuevers with a 757 that a seasoned professional pilot would have difficulty executing. Many pilots have even said that maneuvers, such as of the plane that slammed into the Pentagon, would be literally impossible with the type of plane we were told struck it, and with a pilot like Hani Hanjour.

Now if you have any evidence that "debunks" the fact that people such as Mohammed Atta engaged in the activities I mentioned, please present that evidence here. Don't just say it's been "debunked" and then walk away. Surely they did enough things to discredit the idea they were the "extremists" the media has lead us to believe. It entailed a lot more than simply eating a ham sandwich.

Well its funny that you think government agents did it and you believe Al Queda are government agents yet you don't believe "these people" could have done it. So is it because they are Arabs or because they are muslim?
A person with a bit of intelligence would realise that people who can't fly Cessnas don't get commercial pilots licences. Again, this "can't fly Cessnas" story is a common internet myth.
I can't remember if it is Shaggie or Wacki but one of them has soundly debunked you on this, probably several times. I find it extremely dishonest of you to keep repeating it when you cannot back it up. To paraphrase, radar controllers thought the plane was a military plane because civilian planes don't usually make such violent maneuvers, but not because the can't.
But you provided nothing to prove they did.
You missed my point. I don't consider murdering thousands of civilians to be the sign of a good muslim. So I'm not sure how relevent it is whether or not they were good muslims. After all Bush claims to be a good Christian and lots of Christians consider him to be. But does that change anything? No, it doesn't.
