If that is true then I would be seriously concerned with their work.

As scientists, archaeologist are expected to scrutinize everything to the highest possible detail, and search for the truth of things.

If someone's main goal is to just reconcile the bible, then you can see where maybe personal influence might affect their work.

Neo and Okie, those lines are from a Kids in the Hall skit. It took me a little to connect Dave foley with the words, but I remember that one now...

doesn't really work if you don't know the show...

I was just wondering how it would improve ones life, in your terms, to face harsh reality over accepting delusions.

Racist, sexist, and ethnic jokes have never appealed to me. Why should "humor" aimed at religious groups be any different?

Probably because religion is a choice and the others aren't.

Yeah. A deeply personal choice. disrespecting it is as bad as racism.

The issue isn't with having a sense of humour, but with the nature of the joke.

If the suposition in the joke is that Jesus was a bit if a hack, and someone hold that Jesus was the Mesiah, then yes I could see it being in bad taste for the person.

I enjoy kids in the hall. i enjoy their irreverent style of humour. that being said, i know plenty of people who do not enjoy it. it doesn't mean they do not have a sense of humor at all, they just like jokes that do not require a person or group to be unfairly the butt of a joke, especially if it is a style they do not think is funny....

That being said, these are the same guys who did "the Dr Seuss Bible" skit which I think was funny...

Not only speaking as a religious person, but as a student of religion, I find religious intolerance to be quite disrespectful. Yes it is a choice, but it is as okie said, deeply personal one. I do not hink athiests will mind being joked about, mainly because they probably do not feel singled out by the majority of the society. I am not saying that Christians are persecuted for the record though.

Would you be offended if someone said "God bles you" after a sneeze? It seems to me that you (FedUp) would be the kind of person that would...

Why do we always have to be so childish?
