    Hello. My name is Cavale.

I find it kind of funny that this forum exists, because I've never really put much thought into going barefoot, it just always seemed like the natural thing to do.

I started doing it as a kid, when I'd walk up and down our long gravel driveway barefoot to check the mail. I learned very quickly how to avoid the sharper rocks and my feet got toughened up permanently the day my dog ran away and I chased it down the road on hot summer asphalt.

I had blisters the size of golf balls on both feet and I literally couldn't walk for days. My feet have been supertough since then.

My boyfriend was always a socks person and would walk around his house in socks always. He was never barefoot and never wore flip-flops. But over the years I've changed all that and now he's a dirty hippie who likes to run around barefoot in the grass. In fact I'm pretty much forced to go barefoot a lot of the time because he steals my flip-flops for himself.

I've never had any trouble going anyplace without shoes, except one time, when I went to Wal-Mart in the middle of the night and the lady waxing the floors informed me that I had to wear shoes. I asked her why and she told me it was because I have to. ???

The only time I wear shoes is when I think I might be walking on hot asphalt or where there's broken glass, and it's really hard for me to keep them on when I do.

    Anyways, that's my barefoot story.

    Hi.

Welcome to the forum, thanks for your story, I enjoyed reading it. I too had a girlfriend who changed me from a shoes and socks wearer to a barefooter.

    Never looked back.

    keep 'em bare!

Greetings Cavale - Hope to hear some of your favorite barefoot memories or experiences! (And maybe a pic or two ;-P).

Something you said was quite interesting though:

So, does he have particularly small feet, or are yours a bit bigger? I'm only size 9 1/2 mens, and my wife is a size 7 womens and there's no WAY I could put on her flip flops without making my feet feel way too tightly wrapped. What are you and your boyfriend's foot sizes?

    WELCOME to the forum!

Were it only that the rest of the world could see it as such, it would be a much happier place. Alas, the shoddies have it in mind to impose their unreasonable will upon us, hence the existence of forums such as this.

    Enjoy your stay with us!

It's a little bit of both, actually. I wear a size nine or ten in womens and I'm not sure what he wears, as he's only owned one pair of shoes in the entire time I've known him (as he steals mine when he needs them), but he claims it's an eight. (I don't believe it, I think they're smaller.)
