My old sensi always tought me to add in about 20% play sand to soil growing outdoors to get the roots somthing better to grab onto. Should I keep this technique for my indoor grows or is it useless? also he taught me to add about an inch of small rocks to the bottom for drainage. shout I still do this indoors?

Never used sand but perlites wat ya need. Indoors 4 to 1 soil/perlite with a half of vermiculite will provide enough drainage without any need 4 rocks in the bottom.

Sand outdoors is good as a topping. It will allow moisture to seep in but keeps it from evaporating out.
