I see a lot of religions glorifying some "man" or "woman" that is "holy". a man or woman that has lived on earth. Do you think that one person deserves more praise than another because they are "holy"? In my case I was raised catholic but I have a hard time glorifying and praising a pope because If he did/does live on earth and was/is "HUMAN" then how is he any better than me?
I don't understand why you would ask an agnosticism & atheism forum how someone who is 'holy' should be treated. Agnostics and atheists don't see anyone as being 'holy'.
Kind of feel dumb now but yeah, I guess this is the question that led to my Atheism because I don't believe any one man is important compared to another. LOL feel free to disregard this post, what was I thinking...
Well disregarding the holy aspect of it, I do think that some people can and should be more respected than others if they earn that respect. There are some people in authority over me who I do not feel deserve the respect that usually comes with their position, and I treat them with no more respect than I think they deserve. It usually pisses them off and sometimes it hasn't been good for my career, but I'm not the type of person that will kiss someone's ass just because of the position they hold. That goes both ways. Some times there are people who are ranked equal, or lower than me, who I think deserve a lot of respect, and I give it to them.
