I am currently reading this: I'm reading Sperm Wars by Robin Baker next then the book in my sig as soon as it comes out. Nice.
I could probablv recommend a million books for a million different tastes but I'll limit it to one book that I think would appeal to all tastes. It's an engaging story about a young girl during the WW2 years, called The Book Thief. It's funny, moving and written in a quite distinctive style. The characters are unforgettable. It's one of the few recent publications that I've read and I found it unputdownable. Enjoy. I
I love that book! I read it to my son every day for two months while he was in the incubator in the hospital. The sound of my voice helped, since I couldn't hold him.
Amazon description: In Fedor, the undefeated, undisputed heavyweight MMA champion of the world unveils for the first time his trademark striking and grappling techniques through descriptive narrative and more than 2500 step-by-step color photographs. Detailing dozens of throws, punching combinations, cardio workouts and ground and pound techniques, this book leaves no stone unturned. Should.. be... awesome!
I like to read snippets of not so modern history, and some gems from the past year are: 'The dig tree' (author/publisher unknown) ...a fantastic account of one expedition to discover the interior of Australia back way back when. 'Rubicon' (Tom holland/publisher unknown) ... A great story-led historical account of the end of the roman republic and the rise of Julius Ceasar and efforts by the senate and Pompey to regain control. Generally a good read about early rome. I found both riveting.
I don't know what I could suggest to you... But right now I'm re-reading 'The Waves' by Virginia Woolf. Lately, I've been reading novels by Graham Swift - 'Out of this World,' 'Tomorrow,' 'The Sweetshop Owner,'... and I remember a very nice but little known novel of Virginia Woolf, 'Orlando,' about a man who decided to be immortal, and he goes through different ages, from the Elizabethan age to Woolf's time...
"Loser Goes First(My Thirty-Something Years of Dumb Luck and Minor Humiliation)" by Dan Kennedy It's an auto-biog. Very interesting and intertaining read. I highly suggest tracking a copy down.
I forgot to mention that I loooooooove autobiographies. Not so much a fan of biographies unless I know a little bit about the author. I don't trust books written about people by people who didn't even know them.
Poison study by Maria v Snyder Well actually, I read it again lately, I first read it before it came out, because my dads friend is friends with the writer Good book nonetheless ^_^
