how would it work if you had some loose wool like batting or something then you palm rolled it into a loose rope. then wrap it around the tips of your dreads like only around twice or something. then palmrolled it all together to keep the tips together. if you used wool similar to your hair color it would blend in right? just an idea

it might work, but could come loose in places, I know a lady with wool in her dreads, and she felted it in.
Hang on, just thought; did you actually want the wool to felt into the dread? because if you dont, I would def not recommend using it.

ummm if u dont want rubber bsnds because they restrict movement why do u want an alternative to something you dont want?
u could do a wool thresad or hemp string hair wrap type thing
if u only do a couple wraps around tho it will probly swallow it just like a band..and id imagine wool would have a high chance of gettin lil stinky when its wet alot

If you MUST have blunt tips, crochet just the tips. I like my curly ends though.

i agree loki every tip of mine is unique the way dreads should be i cant find 1 thats blunt some are balls some are fuzzy some are splits and crazy oops i found 1 thats blunt kinda flatt and lumpy but blunt and i love how no 2 are the same

dreads arent naturaly blunt on the ends except in african hair which naturaly tend to lock that way...or unless u cut the ends off or force bluntness

I dunno, I've seen a few white folks with blunt ends au natural. For the most part you're right though.

I have a few blunt ends, but its only like 3 or 4.

i like natural tips...but with my first dreads i used hemp string. works just as well as rubberbands...infact better.
in FL my rubberbands would melt and leave some nasty residu on my hair
