well the refer is about 20 years old now, and the compressor is shot. Its pumping hot air.. now I dont have the tools and a coolant charger to fix it myself.. Im thinking of getting a new one... But where do I want to get one at...
I hate Home Depot and I thinks they are over priced.. but if I could get a kid to scratch a nice fridge with a fork lift. them maybe I could get a discount.. lol..
Im not cool about going to Home depot at midnight saying Ill take this one..
but I kinda dont have a choice....
Ive got another small freezer but couldnt handle the food Ive really got, so basically Im going to dump this refer on its side and fiil it with Ice.. then go to Home Depot.... I dont know..
Now I really got all night to fix this shit but my Girlfreind is sleeping and Im the one trying to figure out what to do, she could be less interested, But what can she do really but stand there while I move this dead box outside and bring in a new one... not how I wanted to start my first day home from a week off a work..

    <insert Karma comment here...lol....

Check thrifty nickel and craigslist. Guaranteed you can find one for cheap.

I got a free oven for my sister on craigslist. just needed a new heating element.

Which I then got for free from my friend.

Are you sure that the compressor broke not just the temperature sensor that actuates it? If its not the the temperature sensor then definitely look in the free section on Craigslist, people are always moving and giving away everything they can't take with them. I got a set of encyclopedias from 1969 for FREE that way so yah.

your all giving me a idea of taking shit apart.. uuugggghhh.. no more tools.. I should maybe pull it out and check the the sensor. but Im not a that HVAC inclined im more of a electrian, but if I pulled up the spec, or looked on the diagram I might be able to figure it out..but not something I want to get my hands into right now.. but anyways its a option cause this old box isnt just going out on the curb that would be to wastful. ill try to mabey repair it later.. need a box now... a cold box< no jokes? ha ha
Ive gotten used things before just to save a buck on a dishwasher once, but the mexican wanted to break more dishes that he washed. sorry humor.
    seriously im in PA..
I think Im about to say the worst thing ever,, Im going to go to Home Depot, and buy a new one, a Highpoint 22.o Cuft fot under $900.00, I hope, I dont charge shit very often I think once in a while its worth it, I need my water dispencer, and my ice mmm icy..

what makes me think its a compressor.. my girlfreind left the door open on the refer wheh she left for work. but I never noticed it and went to bed got up for work and grabbed a soda and it was piss warm? so I closed the door and went to work. came home and it was producing heat,
so your thinking its a sensor, is that a buyable part at midnight? and will just taking off the inside panel going to access this part.. If I cant change it in twenty minutes , Im probable better off getting another box. is this sensor any different than a thremocouple for a furnace? cause them I fix all the time..

we've always had the best luck with sears too. but its been decades since i've needed to buy, nor lived with anyone who need to, buy one.

so all i 'know' about it is probably completely out dated anyway.

This is why Im still up cause, I just dont feel like giving Home Depot any of my hard earned money.. I also hate LOWES, and I could tell you a story about 8 years ago that I though would of been my dream job, Working for a vendor that services Lowes electrical departments. But they jagged me around...

Were about to take a ride in a little bit to SEARS.. cant ever say I got bad products from sears, The Appliance stores always change names, I think I got this fridge for Sun Appliance 20 some years ago. I was going top check out best buy also..
But Ill bet any money Ill be getting it at sears..

Yeah this old box was wasting energy... time for a greener model..lol...

dude, dont go to best buy unless youre taking it home with ya right then. I worked for an appliance installation and delivery, and they have the worst system ever. It will be next week before ya get the wrong one delivered. Dont yall have a scratch and dent place in your area. We have several clearance centers. Scratches, dents, repos.. you can get a fridge for cheap or anything else really.

If your fridge is 20 years old, don't fix it-get a new one for sure. You will save massive amounts of electricity. Years ago, I had a free older fridge that I used for about 5 years. When I replaced it, my electric bill dropped so much that I could have bought a new fridge with what I saved. As to where, I like to go to local appliance stores over huge chains. I did that and the salesman talked me into buying the less expensive of the 2 I was thinking of.

The compressor is definitely shot, when she left the door open the compressor stayed on constantly in order to keep the fridge cool and burnt out. So you'll need a "new" fridge. Buying some thing new is always less green then keeping something old. buying a new Toyota is far worse for the environment then keeping your 40 year old American V8 land yacht. So check Craigslist first.
