Why do doctors usually perscribe xanax instead of valium, when xanax is so much more addictive? I do not understand.

from what Im aware of, xanax is more potent and works faster, so they prescribe it for more sudden panic attacks and severe anxiety.

regardless, I dont got none and I love benzos. The only thing better is MJ, but due to probation screenings, I cant smoke... so its benzos for now.

You probably could. I got adderall prescribed, it took me about 3 months to get past a really fucking stingy doctor.

I'm talking about a theraputic dose-not for fun.

Alright. I've taken both for theraputic purposes. Xanax subdues my panic/anxiety everytime, even at doses as small as 2mg, and I do have anxiety problems. Valium never seems to do anything at all, unless I take a fairly hefty dose, usually 100-150mg, the recommended dose of diazepam is basically useless to me, theraputically or recreationally.

On the other hand, when I take 10mg or more of xanax, it makes me go crazy and become very volitile, as opposed to calming me down.

I got prescribed diazepam as my first and only prescribed benzo. It didn't do much since the dose is 2 mg. How can I get my doctor to up my dose to at least 5 mg?

^^^Tell him that the 2mg dose is no longer working, due to tolerance, and you need your dosage upped.

The problem with that is it will make it seem like I'm abusing the drug. I don't have a tolerance to diazepam - the 2 mg dose was useless from the start! Even on the information leaflet it states that the usual dose for anxiety is 5-30 mg daily so my 8 mg dose is at the low end. And I don't want to be branded a 'drug seeker' by asking for a higher dose.

If it's not working, it's not working. Just explain it to him. People do it all the time; it's how the correct dosage is found. They always start EVERYONE low to see if it will work or not. If it doesn't work, they up the dosage. It's the whole point of having varying strengths and dosage levels of any medication.

I will explain. I was told this diazepam would last me 'a few months' (it didn't) so I'll have to wait until June to ask for more.

It won't hurt to ask. Good luck with that.

Valium had a bad reputation that's all. Xanax is supposedly better to take long term too, and Xanax produces less euphoria. Here in the UK they prescribe diazepam first though.

^^^Xanax is getting a bad reputation around here, because it makes people lose control and do stupid shit, just like drinking a shitload of liquor.

When a drug gets a bad reputation they'll just prescribe something else that's basically the same anyway. They're all benzos, a lot of people say Valium is the best but people have different opinions and there are benefits to each one.

i swear benzo's are really easy to get prescribed for me. iv been on 20mg of temazepan for like a year now. the only problem is they are so dam moorish! iv been known to take 56 20mg tablets in like 2 days. got her to prescribe me diazepam this time because its less hardcore lol. i do have to take very very large doses of it tho. Benzo's are bad news though, iv been put in hospital with them but thats clearly because i have no self controll. In high doses though...wow they turn you into some crazy ass fool pretty much then you wake up in the morning and have absolutely no recolection of the previous night at all. but yer they were more than happy to prescribe me them, infact generally i tell my doctor what to prescribe me more or less. think next time im gna go for nitrazepam lol
