She's a great singer, and her first album was surprisingly fresh. I still don't understand how it got through Clear Channel censors, since this music is far too good for their standards. Unfortunately, due to the success of the first album, her second effort was thoroughly Clearchannelized. A sad day for music. There's an obscure album called New York City, by guitarrist Peter Malick, which has Jones singing in six of it's seven tracks. It was recorded years before Jones became famous, and she is at her best here, singing mostly Blues. Check it out.

people only realize they like something when it's hand fed to them. cat power has been doing the same thing for years, but theyre not in the mainstream, so noone's heard of them. not that norah jones is bad, but she's definetly NOT original.
