rainbow group calander

hey everybuddy..was just looking through the rainbow group calander (forgot we had 1 till just nowe cause i usualy use the default forum style) and it doesnt look like theres a whole lot in there who has been taking care of that, if anyone (cinimin you probly have the easiest direct access to the most complete info i'd guess, but i know ya also gert quite busy so it would be probly best if ya chose someone who u could feed the info to and leave it up to them to do the updating) i noticed also that the rainbow group membership is starting to get pretty large (1 concern, is the calander only availible to group members? is the calander indexed by search engines? (skip
?)) it would really be great to have an accurate up to date calander here, the welcomehere 1 can sometimes be misleading posting non rainbow, semi rainbow and actual rainbow events all together also it usualy doesnt list certain gatherings at all (like regionals that happen every year)
just thinking out loud here, but it sure would cut down on the number of threads asking for info on gatherings if there was 1 sticky thread with a link to the calander...would also save work cause typicaly when gathering directions go out, they get pasted into 3-5 or more threads that were all started about that gathering
imagine how much better oit could be if we could clean up all the clutter of all the threads like wheresthe gatherings in may, whens the next gathering near sante fe and so on, that tend to push all the other thresds out of sight
i'd gladly volunterr to update it, at least for awhile, but as it is im not sure i'll have net access after this friday for a bit
any thoughts ideas or suggestions? or am i repeatting things that have already been said?
oh, last thing, would it be cool to post potlucks and drum circles? or not? the drum circles arent official unoficial raibow things but certainly could be said to be rainmbow related

 

it wouldnt cut down on shit.. noone ,messes with it cause noone even gos to the damn thing.. we put a fucking sticky up to try to keep folks from asking "what is the rainbow family?",, did that work? HELL NO! the fact is people will continue asking the same old questions whether they know the calender is there or not.

i said it was useless before we got it,an ill say it again now.. the "rainbow group" add on to this forum is USELESS..

sure go ahead and waste the time tweaking the calender,not like you have anything better to do..i guarantee, it wont stop a single new post from bein made here..

or better yet, if your so worried about a calender why dont ya update the one on your philly phamily web page that hasent been updated in 3 fuckin years????

 

I don't see as it would hurt...but somebody's going to have to decide if something's just a "rumor gathering" or a regional people are actually focalizing for the first time. Do you include lower case a camp events, like Mississippi? Do you post dates for gatherings where someone's decided not to post dirrections online, like Cumberland (Full moon in May) or Katuah's Summer Solstice gathering (duh.)

I don't think anybody's trying to edit welcomehere at all, hence all the confusion, but anybody trying to do the job is going to piss somebody off.

 

I haven't been updating mainly because I had so much trouble using it when I tried to list stuff before. On Cumberland & Katuah, I think it would be best to ask the focalizers if they want just the dates listed

As far as cutting down on threads asking, HHB has a good point, folks are going to post anyway; but a calender looks nice & eventually regular lurkers would learn to use it.

but how useless could a calander be if its got all the gatherings listed by date with directions or links to info?
seems pretty usefull to me
anything you use by definition would be usefull
if its there just doing nothing and not being used then yea sure its useless

 

Another thing to consider, and this was a centeral issue with rob on the calender on WelcomeHome, is the Permit Problem. Do you not list legal gatheriings, because some folks say they violate their percieved Constitutional Rights? Or do not list illegal gatherings, because they can be even less safe than the other kind?

I'm glad I'm not editing the damn thing.

 

list em by colorcode? i havent looked at that how u do the listings (i can if ya want)
maybe list em, untill the permits signed then pull the listing
or add permited & a & let ppl decide if they wanna go

or a disclaimer not all gatherings listed are guaranteeedd to be ..whatever..

the 2nd gathering..was a rumor gathering
if some1 hadnt put a sign by the side of the trail starting a rumor we might not have had all these gatherings and gatherings and gatherings that spread around the world

so to answer the questions if we hear about it n got info, put the info out in 1 place where its easy to get to
the rainbow group is growin prtetty quickly, pplk i think wantto use it
and i think soon as things start gettin put on the calander it'll start being used alot

well all i can say is i think it wiould be a good thing to have
lotta times lately the only way i find out bout some gatherins is by some1 askin me if im goin...and at the gatherin ..tthe next 1 ppl are headed to is 1 theres no info online aboiut..its hard to get info sometimes

the info i had that had been going out lead to a tie die on a tree couple hundred feet in the wooods with a hrown paper bag with in pencil directions to ther opposite corner of the state
i found kids whod been sleepin by the side of the road a week who hadnt found the bag yet

wed gone hundreds of miles too far then had to backtrack because had miusinformation

so seriusly how useless would a calander be?

question is...is it now or should it be setup so 1 person or any1 is able to add to it?

 

just went back only 3 pages
found a dozen pages of info or questions bout gatherins
that a callender woulda benifited or woullda made uneasacary
and a few others goin unoticed
maybe in adition to the calander a sticky for discussin upcomming events (and would grow to be a record n discussion of past gatherings)

 

I don't think there is a color code system for the calender & I'm fairly sure that anyone in the Rainbow Family group can post a calender listing. Forkman did a nice post for the northern Florida Gathering

 

We put that post up an then never found it again. All we can find are B -Days

Things were different in '73. Nixon was President, and nobody had heard of the Internet or the WorldWideWeb, and hardly anybody had heard af a Rainbow Gathering. Today, if someone posts a rumor of a Gathering, like the one that's gonna happen in your front yard St Patrick's Day, you're gonna get a heard of kids expecting Mamma Rainbow's Free Glop Kitchen to be set up there to fill their hungry bellies, and CALM to patch their ouchie boo-boos, and shitters dug for their stinky poo-poos, and somebody to siphon a gallon of gas from to get them off the mountain when the free food, weed, and tobacco run out, and a tribe of Magical Clean Up Elves to renaturalize the site after they've dug a godawful meteor crater sized hole in the ground so they can build a bonfire with 20' high flames around which to bang their drums all night long as loud as they can, disturbing the wildlife and other campers.

Well this Inquiring Mind would like to know which Calender you are speaking of since it seems to be one that you found here at HipForums...
If is the place you are speaking of having a calender could you let this one know, who has been unable to find this calender where it may be found....
Maybe just having a DAH moment, which is very possible...
Speaking of Calenders, I have noticed that it is hard to find out where events., etc are taking place in any given area without pulling one's hair out looking all over the place and I feel that some effort should be made by all to make sure things are posted so they that may be found...really whatever they are that may interest Family and those wanting to find such things.
What the solution is I do not know but together I am sure WE can all arrive at a good place.

brother the calandar is part of the rainbow family group page here on hipforums the groups are a new feature here with added functionality like personalized calanders
somne ppl like to argue about wether or not to use them no idea why i understand that editing it woulkd be a hassle for whoever took responcibility but i fail to see how it being used could be useless
you know it would be used and so do i.. you know we need it so do i..
seemks the only people arguing that we should have a calander also want to argue that we shouldnt have a gathering..

i'll post the direct link to the calander in a sec but bear in mind theres not alot there right now

right now just has alotta birthdays anhd no other info the fact that olympic bullshitter posted the 420 council info here in a random thread instead of the calander whgere it canh be found proves howe much we need it asnd need to not only use it but post a libk in a sticky leading ppl to it

 

ok everyone the birthdays have been removed the calander is now clean and ready to post new events i'll post ob's council
from now on can we post info there when we get it


every 1 who posts looking foir a gathering will only do it once if theyre directerd there and told to bookmark it it wont reduce the mess immediately it wont get everyone finding the info they seek overnight but over time it will be used more and more
