How interesting that I would happen to find this today. On Saturday night my mom and I took my aunt (who's in her sixties and loves reggae) and my cousin to see Sister Carol in SF. They were asking us about some song they liked that they thought was Bob Marley and we were schooling them on the fact that Tosh was more outspoken, bolder. They were surprised to know that some of their favorite Wailers songs were really Tosh songs. I told them to watch that documentary. It was hard for me to vote in the poll. I love several songs equally. What I love about Peter Tosh, aside from his powerful voice, is his unapologetic boldness. He sings about politics and justice and screw it if it doesn't sell. If you watch the documentary, he knew he was here to do Jah works, he knew he had a mission to do. He didn't back down. Maybe he could have gained more popularity if he sang cute love songs instead of singing out against apartheid, but he didn't sell out at all. I have immense respect for Peter Tosh. He wasn't just outspoken, but he was TALENTED. I love his lyrics. I love his voice. I like Bunny Wailer, too. He's got his own thing going on. They each had their own works to do. You know who I'm not crazy about? Rita Marley. Why the hell didn't she give everyone what was due to them after Bob passed away? She took the money and ripped everyone off and came out with her sorry ass Harambe album. At least Bob paid his band. They had houses and work and money. Then when he died, she changed his will, forged it, and ripped everybody off. I don't respect her. And about 8 years ago I saw the Marley kids advertising Cover Girl makeup. WTF? You think it's the clothes you wear that make you a lady, Put that out of your mind, gal, you must be crazy, Grandmama used to tell me, long time ago, It's not everything you see that glitters is gold, You're just a brand new secondhand gal...

Peter Tosh rocks. I actually knew about him BEFORE I knew about Marley. Marley will always hold a special place in my heart, along with Tosh. Steppin' Razor, I love! Sublime does a crazy version of that song that I really like, too.
They talkin bout Tosh homie not Marley. I liked Legalize It not cause its the most popular but because I liked the melody of it just real relaxing song u kno
Somebody voted on the poll, which bumps it to the top. My choice was I Am That I Am... two years ago.
Im not a Peter Tosh fan. We are all individuals put upon this Earth existing together as one but in separate realities, subjective realities from one another. Therefore, I do not believe anyone has any sayso in making any objective statements to someone else about their choice of music and what they like. I prefer Bobs voice over Peters. Any day. I like the way Bob acted when he performed. I like the way he talked and carried himself. There is nothing political in those statements and nothing political should be sought out from those statements. Its a simple matter of INDIVIDUAL preference. There is no such thing as objectivity. There is empathy, sympathy, unity, there is admiration and idolatry...but, there is no such thing as an objective reality. Everything in this world is subjective and I do not have the authority to judge someone elses reality, I would hope that one would not take it upon themselves to judge mine.
