alright so this is my first grow and iv noticed over the past few days that one of my newest mother plants has started to grow bud like formations all over it, it also has a much stronger smell now. the plant is about 18" tall and we took 3 clones off of it before transfering it into a new grow area with fl grow tubes above them. that was about 1-2 weeks agao. the grow tubes dont put out as much light as the 42watt CFL we had on the plant before and it also puts out a reddish color which helps the plants bud in the fall but i didnt think it could cause a plant to but while in 24hr light. im extremly confused by all of this so any imput would be greatly appreciated. another friend who used to grow took a look at the plant and agreed that it looked like the plant was a few weeks into budding. il try to post pics tomorro when i can get a camera
The red n lower levels of lighting prob not helping but its sounds like shock of being moved. Dont worry ya can bring plants back from blooming so it should go back t growing normally in a few weeks.
iv heard that its possible to re bud plants by simply harvesting 1/2-2/3 of the plant and sending it back into vedge. would this be possible if we wanted to continue to use the plant to take clones from after the harvest and recovery in vedge?
Never done with big plants but think ya remove top 3rd and trim bottom 3rd leavin the rest. turn lights back t 18 hours and start watering with nitrogen food again then about 2-4 weeks later ya get green heads n shoots coming out the bud and then off it goes again. Wouldnt do it more 2 or 3 times. When I take cutting from plants just in bloom they come back ok even if there left in under 12 hour light.
Some varietys of plants simply don't keep too well as mothers and go into a semi-flower state. Biddy early and Mandala#1 both fall into this category. The best ways i've found are to prune them back a bit, removing any flowering parts and even preflowers/bracts. Trim the roots and repot in a large enough pot to give plenty of rootspace for a while. < Often rootbound plants can tend to go into flower ... it's a type of stress.
Do you know what strain you are growing? I am wondering if there is some ruderalis in there. The 24 hours of light....part. You can veg with a red spectrum the plants will just have a wee bit looser nodes just keep the lights close as flos drop the intensity pretty quick.
i am curently growing a few different types of mother plants from unknown seeds. unfortunatly buying proper seeds is financialy impossible for the time being. on the up side, the two mothers who were budding seem to be going back into the growing stage. iv also switched the lights so that there is one cool and one grow tube in each fixture. im going to try trimming back some of the flowering tips and see what happens. thank for the help.
Nice one I was wondering about this threat the other day. So all is looking good again. I've actually got the same problem after moving a few plants but there small enough t grow out of it by time I need more clones. Yep maybe a small trim will fizz them back t veg just nicely.
ok so our oldest mother that pretty big has deffinitaly come out of the budding cycle but the younger one seems to be going further into the budding stage. there is a fair bit of resin glands growing on the leaves around the buds now, im not too sure what too do at this point but i suppose if it just finishes budding we can still try to force it back into growing again after that.
Have ya got resin on any big leaves? Like fan leaves that couldnt of touched the buds. Coz I've notice it with the strain I've got at moment when there coming out of bloom. Mmm i milk it off.
Hee hee I had Nat pegged a while back and I quote him (badly): To get a seed to sprout female plant it with the round end upwards! That was a keeper!!
Hehe. I'l have t watch wat I say in future. Sprout female sow standing on 1 leg n sing come holy faithfull
