Check out the protest forum theres is a thread about Marc Emery an innocent criminal much like every one in this forum who ingests marijuana. He simply sparked two joints after holding a pro-pot conference due to the fact that hes a reknown pro-potactivist (and who doesn't like smoking a joint after work like a responsible pot user), and since he ended up passing the joints to two other people who had just watched his demonstration he was charged with "marijuana trafficking" and sentenced to 90 days in prison in Saskatoon. This clearly shows that the liberal government's "decrimilization" bill would not change the law that passing joints or bowls are considered drug trafficking so pot could never REALLY be decriminalized. Out of the 10 million Canadians who have tried pot in their lifetime or the 22 million Americans who have tried pot in their lifetime it is fairly easy to say that a majority of them have passed a joint or a bowl before. So in no way does this make Canada any different than America. This "marijuana trafficking" law can have a sentence for up to 7 years in prison, and because of this we should all go out and try to help the Canadians by getting this changed. We deserve the freedom to smoke pot, but more importantly the freedom to pass a joint. What if you don't smoke and it was passed to you so you pass it to some else, are YOU a marijuana trafficker? Hell no. Legalize it.
i agree, but marc emery is a big pot figure. he has a seed site (overpriced unfortunately) they needed to set an example.
I liked the little amount of time I spent in British Columbia. I guess the operative word there is little time I spent there. I've been there 5 times for generally about a month each time. The place seems great to me. Easy going people, bud's easy to find and the land scape is beautiful. Anyway, yeah, ofcourse any type of leading figure in Marijuana legislation lobbying or any type of lobbyist or activist for any well-known cause is going to be taking the blunt hit of the "furthest extent of the law". This doesn't necessarily mean that Marijuana laws are getting tighter.
Oh, I almost forgot, you do know that under a parliamentary system in Canada, the Provincial laws are like the state laws here in the states - they differ from each other greatly in policy and leniency, and actually, provincial laws are much more secular. They're like completely different countries, basically. Saskatchewan has completely different laws than Alberta or British Columbia. Just to let all the potheads know, you know. Go where you know!
When was the last time you heard about Canada starting some shit with other countries? Probably NEVER...they just tag-along so they can beat some ass too and also so the United snakes of America will continue to "help" them. The people are 10x as friendly, the wilderness is so clean and unpolluted, the healthcare system covers everyone! Sound a whole helluva lot better than the U.S. Huh!?
Mark emery got arrested because he made it his goal to smoke joints of front of every police station on his trip across canada promoting weed. OBVIOUSLY u are gonna get arrested eventually doing that. Fuck the provinces East of BC and West of Ontario.
Was Saskatoon the place in Canada, where the police officers were arrested for interogating local indians and then ditching them out in 0 degree weather, 20 miles out of town? Jus checkin.
What exactly is the point of all of this? What are we accomplishing by doing this? All of these tedious arguments over lands divided by IMAGINARY lines.....real show of intelligence.
sounds a little better then america.... where i live any amount( personal use) is a minimum of a year...
I guess we are all just a bunch of lazy stoners around here. "It could be worse.. I mean not everyone goes to jail for smoking pot in Canada.." that's such a lame attitude. You partake in the recreational use of a plant and when an activist, someone who spends their life breaking the law so that you wont have in years to come, goes to jail because of a twisted and sneaky law, its your job to speak up for him. He has spoken up for you almost everyday he has been devoted to pursuing the legalization of this plant. This November Alaska, Oakland, CA, and Nevada all have the taxation and legalization of marijuana on their ballot, and if we vote and get pot legalized in any of those states or city its also our job to make sure they're not going to do anything sneaky like Saskatoon has done. Imagine being able to buy pot in a store and then be put in jail for "trafficking" when all you did was pass a joint. Whats the purpose of legalization if we're still criminals? Quit being amotivated, and lazy stoners and get out there and speak your mind!
In the states, it would have been simple possesion. The canadian gov blows. There was a BC coffee house bust the other day. SalParadise, 3 post and already you sound like lost! Try walking across the border with some dope and see how imaginary those lines are!
