    Hi,

Newbie here. I am working in one of the two major universities in Oakland area of Pittsburgh. Looking to make contacts with like-minded people.

Well, I don't know if I am like minded, but having a connection at a university would certainly come in handy, I'll keep an eye out for you ;)

My mum applied for a job as a secretary of some sort at Pitt, never came through though.
    What do you do?

If it's at Pitt, there's a chance one of my cousin's worked under you =D

She's in Israel now, doesn't work under you now for sure =P

I would expect so. Both CMU and Pitt have some major research and development going on.
There are other Pittsburgh people here, they may not be finding this thread quite yet, but they are around.

Ah, new to the area? The roads can be really confusing at first, but over time it gets a lot easier to comprehend.
If you ever need to look for something to do in the city, CityPaper is a great resource. Pittsburgh.com hosted by WPXI can be helpful at times, but I haven't much luck finding new things to do in it.
The best way, as always, is to talk to people =)

This site won't be too good for Pittsburgh specific information, but it's a great community for discussion of all sorts.

Yes yes, and after you are taxed to death and your last request is a cigarette Dan will have you dragged through the streets and beaten, to king Dan a complete cigarette ban is all he has on his feeble little mind ( I think he is from France ) ALL HALE AND BOW BEFORE KING DAN.

    Peace

Good morning orison, so your playing B ball in the dark very cool, it's warm and muggy here about 76 today, great my grass, is about 10" tall so it will take a week to cut it, hey why don't you move over to the Old Hippies group, maybe we can wake the old farts up, people were talking there for a while, then I think king Dan had them all put to death for smoking, Troll from France that he is. Nice talkin to ya orison.

    Peace
