I ate mushrooms for the first time this Saturday. I had 40g fresh and was expecting an intense experience, but unfortunately, there was very little effect. I take amino acid supplements for neurostransmitters, including serotonin. There are certain kinds which I'm not supposed to take at the same time because they "compete" for the same receptors in my brain and therefore are each less effective if they are in there at the same time. I took one of these in the early morning and another in the afternoon and then ate the shrooms at night. I didn't realise however, that the second one I took lasted so long that my 5-HT (serotonin) receptors were occupied when I ate the shrooms, so the psilocin had no where to bind on to. =[ I felt like I was about to trip, and my i magination got very vivid, but there were no hallucinations, no million thoughts a second, no crazy thought patterns or realisations. It was like when you take a hit of salvia that's not big enough to break through, but you feel like you're close to a trip. I just sat there for like 6 hours feeling like I was about to trip, wondering when it was gonna start, before I finally realised what happened.

It is unfortunate that the first lesosn I learned from the mushroom teacher had to be one in neurochemistry. It's going to be a while before I get any more. =[
