So there is this really friendly old man who lives in town, and he had this pet beagle named Buddy. His neighbor took the dog out of his front yard and drowned the dog in a lake several miles out of town with a brick tied to its neck. That dog was that man's life, and it was one of the only things he had left. I just don't understand whats wrong with people. I hope that asshole goes to hell.

That's a hell of a story to just break out like that.

But wow. What was his motive to do such a ghastly thing?

    That's terrible

Maybe you should go to the animal shelter, find the cutest dog you can find and bring it as a gift to ease the remorse of the old guy. He could probably use the company. Make him feel young again.

Make sure it's spayed or neutered.

Im not sure about a motive, but my guess would be barking or maybe the dog pooped on his lawn or something which is a pathetic reason. Thats no excuse.

Cruelty like that towards animals is a symptom very commonly portrayed by people with severe anti social personality disorders, which is how a majority of violent repeat criminals start.

That was his reason. Not something the dog did.

While I would never drown anyone’s dog, I’ve wanted to drown my neighbor’s dog on several occasions in the past when he’d bark all night

The dog has since passed away (but from natural causes) [IMG]

Also people with anti social personality disorders can't empathize, so he wouldn't be able to learn any sort of moral lesson from suffering.

Best off just locking him away forever and trying to treat him. I'm not sure you can fix people like that.

But hopefully a little love and compassion can help the old guy who lost his friend.

Yeah I think someone should get the old man a new puppy/adult dog. I'm sure he could use the company as others have said, and a companion. It probably won't be easy to get over the loss of his best friend, but I'm sure it would help and he could establish a connection with the new dog. And that guy needs to be locked away or something. Or drown himself with bricks tied to his neck and his hands tied behind his back.

Yeah the guy has a wife and kids too... it doesnt really matter, but at the same time it does. I would be ashamed of my father if he did something like that.
