So why are you? Is is because you dont like the taste of meat or for other reasons? Im not a vegetarian but im just curious.
I'm not. and that is mainly because I love meat, but also because it is important to vary sources of protein (and other nutrients) and there are just too many good sources of protein that are forbidden by a vegetarian lifestyle.
I eat chicken on some occasions. But any other meat I just do not like the taste of. It makes me gag.
Well first of all i think its cruel and wrong to eat flesh, after all we are evolved species arent we? But that doesnt mean we are superior to other animals and we dont have the right to torture and murder them at slaughter houses and shit. And i belive its so much more natural to eat vegetation food. I guess its just strange for me to eat cooked corpse!
simple fact, we are superior to other animals. but I don't think they are any more tortured and murdered than they would be in the wild. they're just treated as, well, livestock. which means a less stressful life and a quicker, less painful death. your choice not to eat meat is just that, your choice, and that's fine. but you make it out as if people who eat meat are such cruel and evil bastards. human beings are omnivores, which means it is natural for us to eat both meat and plants.
I started doing it just to test myself. Like how long I'd last. But I started liking it, I haven't eaten meat for 4 months now. But I'm going to Spain in the summer and if I see a KFC, I think I'm gonna break.
I've always been a vegetarian. At first it was nurture, then a moral decision and now it's out of habbit. I don't have any moral reason not to eat meat... i just can't bring myself to.. because i'm just not used to all the blood and flesh kind of thing.. although it's likely i'll become a meat eater before i'm 30. I agree with Greengirl that we are not above.. or better than animals.. but i don't think that killing them means we are better than them... we are just taking an opportunity... and yes it is on a par with taking the life of a human being... in a technical sense.. but animals are not part of our society and so why have feelings for them when we can just use them as a source of food?
no other people who eat meat are not cruel and evil bastards, but all those factories for slaughtering...its just fuck up. I mean im sure they dont put the animals to sleep before they chop them apart, or cut their throats. Most of the slaughter houses do it while they are still alive! So its not very fast and less painfull death. They dont even take good care for the animals before its their time to go. And in other hand its just more natural and healhy not to eat meat. Well thats what i think, you can find all the proteins and stuff you need not only in meat but in other foods also. But i respect the individual choice of man to do and eat whatsoever it finds best.
Whats wrong with slaughter houses? If people have taken the descision to end an animals life.. then why would they care about its quality of life before death? If people don't feel any shame guilt or sorrow about breeding animals in cramped conditions etc for food then why should/would they stop? The only people who lose out are the ones who get upset about it and choose to only eat free range things. Why not treat animals like vegetables? They are bred to eat... not to look after... so treating them as concsious beings just makes things 10x harder and people end up giving them a 'nice' life before they are slaughtered... why not just breed them in the most economical way and get it over and done with? Out of sight is out of mind..
ah fak...i dont know....i belive animals have feelings man, i belive they have thoughts and they suffer the same way a man would suffer, i belive they are spiritual beings just like us! And why the fuck would you want a druged, mutaleted, crippled chicken in your sandwich for example. I mean it matters how we treat them before we kill them. Treat it good then kill it fast and dont bother.
I see where you're coming from, Greengirl. but what do you think is the more comfortable way for an animal to have its life ended; getting mauled to death by wolves/lions/whatever or have their throat slit and bleed out? and again, natural is a moot point. as omnivores, it is natural for us to eat both meat and plants. meat is more healthy for some people than others, depending on, for example, blood type. but to say that it is more unhealthy to eat meat than not is false. it is true that you can get proteins and all the nutrients you need with a vegetarian lifestyle, but it is important to vary your sources, as different sources have different kinds of, for example, protein.
As a teen I spent 2 years without eating meat. Thinking back, I think it was just a wish to go against the norm. I rationalized it in terms of it being healthier and probably some other superstition. I never actually read anything to support my beliefs at the time. I simply WANTED to believe something.
I am not a vegetarian. I don't eat a lot of meat, and I don't eat it every day. I eat what I eat, I am not going to design my lifestyle around being able to call myself a "vegetarian"...I don't need a title, unless it is Duchess...I would like to be a Duchess.
The reason I refuse to eat meat is because I dont kill the animals myself. If I had to kill animals to live, I would and Id enjoy hacking them to peices with my knife. Until then it's veggies for me.
i'm not. i'm cool with it though. and if i had to kill and butcher all the meat i eat if i wanted to eat any, i probably would be too. or at least more of the time. =^^= .../\...
erm... they electrocute the animals so it is an instant painful death... before they are chopped up... and i've seen lots of farms and i've never seen skinny little diseased animals cramped into a closet... usually there's a large field full of healthy, happy looking animals... and i'm not even going to start on the whole unnatural thing... eating meat is about as unnatural as pooping.
